Southern Caribbean cruise 2009, part 1

September 6, 2009
Embarkation Day
San Juan, Puerto Rico
Ship: Carnival Victory

Another fantastic cruise! The only bad thing was embarkation. It was a complete nightmare! The lines were long and we stood in the heat and humidity of San Juan waiting our turn to get inside to check in. It took us around 2 1/2 hours to check in and it would have taken longer but a Carnival employee saw Mr. Bob, who was traveling with us, and failing fast so we were taken to the front of the line. Even with that it still took us around 2 1/2 hours. I heard that others were in line for around 3 1/2 hours! But, once onboard we quickly forgot about all that.

The first dinner on this cruise is open seating so we met up with other Cruise Critic members and had dinner in the Pacific dining room. On the left is Tom, Diane, Mark, and Vicki, who were also traveling with us.

Tomorrow is our first stop; St. Thomas!
