Perdomo Reserve Champagne Noir Super Toro

Perdomo Reserve Champagne Noir Super Toro (6x60)

The newest edition from Perdomo, debuting in April, 2011. This is the only size available at this time but other sizes are in the works. This cigar utilizes the same internal parts as the regular Champagne series but it has a triple fermented maduro wrapper that has been aged in bourbon barrels.

This is a large cigar. At a 60 ring it should be smoked slowly for the best burn. The maduro wrapper is thick and course.

Video revie HERE.

After cutting the cap I gave it a test draw. It was good. After lighting the cigar I let it sit for a minute to allow the flavors to come through. I expected this cigar to burn a long time. The cigar is well packed and firm. These cigars are available in boxes of 24. This is a Nicaraguan puro; all Nicaraguan tobacco.

The cigar started with a lot of pepper. The first flavors were sweet grapefruit citrus and coffee. The finish was short with light vanilla notes. The pepper lingered on the tongue and palate. It is medium bodied but appears it will move quickly to full bodied. The cigar burns very slowly.

There are similarities to this cigar and the regular Champagne. On the tail end of the spice I noted roasted almond notes. I found this interesting. At this point I'm about 1/2 inch into the cigar.

At the one inch point there were vanilla notes appearing. It is combining with the grapefruit citrus nicely to give it some richness. The coffee is very prominent. The pepper is quite good and abundant.

At about the 2 inch point I had to touch up the burn a little. The maduro wrappers are very thick and course and sometimes burn a little unevenly.

The cigar is full bodied by now. The richness is great and the coffee give it dark notes. The finish has become longer with sweet orange citrus notes. At this point I'm about 3 1/2 inches in.

In the final stages the cigar wraps up with coffee, rich, sweet grapefruit citrus and vanilla. The cigar burns a long time; almost 2 hours! The finish remained long and pleasing. While there are similarities between this cigar and the regular Champagne this cigar is quite full bodied. I enjoyed this cigar.

Score: 91
