Sublimes Double Robusto (5 3/4 x 54)

Video review HERE.

(from the Sublimes website)
SUBLIMES cigars began as a hidden gem, having been sold mostly in South Florida since 2004. It was in not until 2011 that we decided to take SUBLIMES national. Initially hand-rolled in Little Havana, as demand for SUBLIMES increased we quickly found ourselves outgrowing our Miami operations. As a result, since August 2013 we have moved production to EstelĂ, Nicaragua where they are rolled entirely by hand from the very finest Cuban seed tobaccos.

With a sun-grown Habano-Ecuador Rosado wrapper, Habano-Corojo binder and Habano-Criollo filler our cigars are expertly blended to create the perfect medium bodied, full flavored smoke. Presented in elegant Spanish cedar boxes of 30 cigars. Rolled by hand at AJ Ferandez's cigar factory in Estelì, Nicargua.

Wrapper: Habano-Rosado grown in Ecuador
Binder: Habano-Corojo grown in Honduras
Filler: Habano-Criollo grown in Nicaragua

Available in 5 sizes:
Robusto: 4 3/4 - 50
Robusto Extra: 5 1/4 - 52
Double Robusto: 5 3/4 - 54 (REVIEWED TODAY)
Grande: 6 3/4 - 56
Magnum: 6 1/4 - 58

The cigar is very dark and the contrast between the white band and the wrapper makes it look even darker. The cigar is well made and has a nice density.

The test draw after cutting the cap was very good. The initial flavors were sweet cedar/boysenberry/earth mix with black pepper at an 8. There were some coffee notes at the base.

One inch in the initial flavors are still intact. The cedar and boysenberry with the earthiness is nice. The earth gives the cigar some "grit". The finish is a sweet cream with some white chocolate aspects. The lingering black pepper is very good. The cigar is medium to full bodied at this early stage.

2 inches in the sweet cedar notes are still in play but the boysenberry notes are fading away. They have been replaced with dry cocoa and brown sugar. There is still quite a bit of earthiness and the black pepper is still very good. There is a touch of cocoa on the finish now making for a creamy cocoa finish. The lingering black pepper is still very nice.

With about 2 inches remaining the sweet cedar is almost overwhelmed by the earth notes. The cocoa notes are still there and now there are dark chocolate notes. Coffee remains at the base. The cigar is definitely medium to full bodied and the finish is unchanged.

At the end the cedar came out a little more, earth, dark chocolate, and coffee. The cedar is a little more sweeter and the lead flavor. The cigar has moved past medium to full bodied but not quite at full bodied. The pepper has been very good throughout. The finish is about the same; cocoa, or dark chocolate with cream. This has been a good cigar that made several twists and turns. Since these are now nationwide look for them in local shops.

Tim,

Again great review, top notch! You are better than most of the reviewers on YouTube, just want to stress that I can view your videos when you upload because I'm subscribed and I get notified. Otherwise I would have to search for Sublimes cigar to have seen this. I search daily for uploaded cigar reviews on YouTube, you don't show up in those searches, others do, you're better than most, tag or title your reviews so they are generic enough so you gain visibility.

Just my .02 cents. Keep up the good work!!
