Just kidding! But...it's addictive as heck!
What's it been; 2 weeks or so since I first reported that I "tried" them? Well, since then, I've ordered/won 26, yes that's 26 five-packs!!! For the mathematically challenged, that's 130 first rate cigars!!!!! Some of the brands I picked up are Cuban Parejo, Hoyo de Monterrey, Flor de Oliva Cameroon, Don Juan, Camacho, CAO L'Anniversairo, and H. Upmann!
The average stick cost, after shipping, is only $2.41!!!! Not bad! First rate cigars for under $2.50 each! I can live with that.
This is a nice "haul", so I'll try (TRY) to stay away from their site for awhile. But...
I'll be back!!!!

Tiny Tim meets Big Tom!!!
The infamous Big Tom made a stop in the Palmetto State this week, and the equally infamous Tiny Tim met up with him! The site: Charleston, SC! Any time is a good time to be in Charleston, so when Tom said he'd be there and asked if I wanted to come down, I jumped at the chance!
Oh, and get this; it's HIS birthday and he brought ME presents! Go figure! After the usual exchange of greetings, he produces a bottle Eagle Rare 10 year old Bourbon from his bag! Wow! What a surprise! Then, he grabs a Cuban Partagas from his mini-humidor and hands it to me! Woo-hoo!!!!I recipricate with a Monte no. 2 and a Bolivar Corona Grande. Immediately after we had lunch, the Monte no. 2 was lit!!!
Below are a few pics from the day...

CigarBid shipment; a follow up post
I am happy to report that CigarBid was very prompt in their shipment! I inspected the cigars and found them to be in great shape! I've heard that some other cigar lovers had a few bad experiences with the condition of the cigars when they received them. I found no such problems! As a matter of fact, I won a second bid lot! I received those cigars 2 days later and again, no problems!
In my opinion, CBid is a class place to deal with.
They started shipping their cigars using DHL instead of UPS. They arrived quickly and I had absolutely no problems with them. The change appears to be a good one.
It's nice to find another good option to cigar buying. I can highly recommend CBid.
Be careful though! CBid can be habit forming!!!

Tiny Tim discovers a new toy: Cigarbid.com
Well, I waded into the cigar bidding waters last Saturday night! It was more of a whim than anything else, but I found myself checking out the 5-packs. I noticed that there were several that I was interested in. So, since I found 4 or 5 that I would not mind winning, I began bidding. See, with one lot won you pay $3.95 in shipping, but with every additional lot won (on the same day) you only pay an additional $0.50 per item. Obviously it's better to win more than one lot; makes the shipping cheaper overall!
Since I bid only on items that would end that same day, I awoke Sunday morning to check out how I did. Wow! I won 6 5-packs! 30 very good/decent cigars! And, with shipping, it was only $76.45! That's an average of 2.54 apiece! Here's the cigars I won:

- CAO L'Anniversaire Belicoso eXtreme - 5-Pack
- Cupido Campana - 5-Pack
- Indian Tabac Classic Chief
- H. Upmann Vintage Cameroon Belicoso - 5-Pack
- La Perla Habana Black Pearl Toro - Cobre
- Warhol by Felipe Gregorio Churchill - 5-Pack
The only "questionable" buy is the Warhol by Felipe Gregorio, but since I got them for only $5, I'm not too worried!
I find myself "watching" the daily bids now! I've heard this CigarBid thing can be very addictive, and I'm beginning to be a believer!
They also have boxes you can bid on, but I like variety, so, for now I'll stick with the 5-packs.
FYI, CigarBid.com is part of Cigars International, a very reputable company that I've used over the years.
Check it out! You might find a new toy too!

SC Sit Down Smoke; Great Time!!!!
Saturday, October 2nd, 2004
Well, I got to the Wild Hare at noon and spotted the round table where I wanted the group to sit. Looking around the room, there were only 2 or 3 others in the bar. It was a little early, even with the usual football crowds that were expected. In the adjacent room, I noticed one guy sitting by himself. I strolled over and "low and behold", it was StogiesAndHoagies! Well, we quickly moved over to the round table. With a small group that was expected, the round table made a good choice.
Shortly after we sat down, I received a call from Rebel John, who was driving down from Raleigh, North Carolina! Quite a drive; 3 1/2 hours! He arrived about 15 minutes later. Outfield Jack, the only other local boy, showed up shortly after, closely followed by SmallTownSmoker, who drove in from Manning, South Carolina. Greetings and cigars were exchanged, and drinks ordered. The corner quickly filled with the smell of good cigars! Good food and good cigars were the rule of the afternoon.
Tiny Woman made here "grand appearance" about 1:00! I guess she wanted to make an impression; she did! She was the lone female in a sea of cigars and testosterone! She didn't seem to mind.
An old friend from North Carolina, Casey, called from around Spartanburg, SC to tell me he was in route! That was great, as I have not seen Casey in several months. He's my original Habano's contact! He arrived in "under the expected hour and a half drive!"
As the afternoon wore on, I asked if anyone wanted to visit the local cigar store, etc. Everyone brought plenty of cigars, so that wasn't a problem. StogiesAndHoagies, however, want some "Expresso"! So, I being the gracious host, told him that I knew of a place he could get some. So...off we went! Well, the place I took him to was "out of business"! Oops! I quickly went to plan "B". We found his "Expresso" at a book store. During the ride over, I received a call from wacco, who was in Martha's Vineyard having lobster and steamed crabs! Tough life! He was there with SmoothSeoulChic, SMScoles, and BostnBill. Of course, the phone was passed around.
We also talked to JJ, Rick from Dallas and Pope Crisco.
We disbanned our little gathering around 9pm. What a day! It was great to get together with these fine folks. I certainly hope this becomes a regular event!
