CAO event at the Maduro Room!

Grady Marsh of the Maduro Room had a CAO cigar event on Friday, April 27th. David Palm was the CAO rep. He had Criollo robusto's for everyone who walked in to sample. Grady was running a buy 3 get one free promotion for the event. My favorite CAO cigars are the Brazilia and the Criollo, but the MX2's are very good also. I jumped on the Brazilia's and Criollo's since I already had quite a few MX2's at home.

Grady's shop is getting more exposure during these events. He hopes to have one a month! That would be perfectly ok with me!

You can visit his website at http://www.maduroroom.com/.

Here's Grady behind the counter! He took posing lessons from the "My Name is Earl" guy! LOL

Here Grady helps Connie pick out a few things:

I thought this was funny! It was in a cigar book that Grady has. I guess you'll have to the a Lutheran to understand it, but it's a take off of Martin Luther's nailing of the 95 Theses to the Church door!

Some of the crowd at the CAO event:

L-R; Grady, me, Connie, David Palms of CAO, Jim

Thanks for hosting a great event Grady! I already look forward to the next one! It was nice meeting David Palm, too. I'm sure we'll see him again!

Appreciation letter from Sister Care

Below is a very nice letter from Sister Care showing their appreciation for the $1100 donation that we raised at S. C. Sit Down No. 6. Thanks again to all who helped us raise this amount!

Pontillo cigar event; 4/21/07

A. J. Pontillo was back at the Tobacco Merchant on Saturday, April 21st with his wonderful cigars. Mr. Pontillo has exploded on the cigar market with some very well made and tastey cigars. His original blends in natural and maduro are great cigars. The two cigars share none of the same type tobacco! That is an amazing fact in today's cigar world. I'm normally not much of a "natural" kind of guy but his naturals are very good. They are medium bodied and burn flawlessly! The maduro's he produces are fantastic! His newest edition, the Paragon, is a full bodied powerhouse that is great! Try one of the 7.5x52's, but do it on a full stomach! They are smooth, but pack a punch! They're very good!!!

Below are a few pics from Saturday:

Meanwhile, in the back room Mitch is "relaxing"!

After a short while, we all moved to the back room. Here's Mr. FBI, Mark Lewis discussing the various world situations with Twig-ly:

Joe and Jim (these two are a Post Office Wanted Poster waiting to happen!

George, with "what's his name" in the background. George was doing his Johnny Cash impression; man in black!

Jim managed to hang around for one cigar. He was in "motorcycle riding" mode, so he left after an hour to ride the Harley:

Twig and Mitch:Here's that guy again who seems to be in all the pictures!

A. J. and myself:

I want to thank A. J. again for his sponsorship at our recent S. C. Sit Down. He was unable to be here in person due to an illness in his family but sent some cigars to pass out. As you will remember, there was a box of his Paragon's in the raffle! The guy who won them was one lucky dude! I look foward to seeing A. J. again when he's in the Columbia area!

South Carolina Sit Down VI; the REPORT

SC Sit Down VI attendees:

Wow! All I can say is wow!

Look at the pic above! That's our largest crowd to date!!!!

The SC Sit Down VI was held April 14th, 2007. We had a total of 73 people here for this one! We had the Perdom rep; Chris Harper, here too. Chris had a bag full of goodies to pass out and even put a huge humidor in the Sister Care raffle! We had attendees from all over the southeast. The Wild Hare was bursting at the seams with that many people! We may outgrow this location, but until the fire marshal says we can't have anymore people in there, I'm not too worried about it! The items raffled off were out of this world! Some of the highlighted items raffled off were 6 humidors and 8 boxes of cigars!!!

The raffles were split into 2 categories; Sister Care Inc. (www.sistercare.com) and the Cigar Family Foundation, which is a charity for the people in the Dominican Republic headed by the J. C. Newman company (www.cf-cf.com). Both are truely worthwhile charities. The Sister Care raffle consisted of pretty much all items in the raffle except the humidor supplied by the J. C. Newman company, so needless to say there were a LOT of items in the Sister Care raffle. The final tally was:

$1100 for the Sister Care raffle

$550 for the Cigar Family Foundation

That's a total of $1650 collected for the charities!!!! Thanks everyone! Those organizations will be very happy!
