Of the two cigars the Mistress has a denser feel in the hand. But, here is a shot of the foot of The Gent.

The test draw after cutting the cap was good. The initial flavors were a tangy cedar with some aspects of citrus, quite a bit of brown sugar, cream, small amounts of nutmeg, light, sweet chocolate, and a light black coffee base. The sweet, tangy cedar combined with the brown sugar give the faux flavor of sweet strawberry. While describing the initial flavors I got notes of sweet caramel also. There was white pepper rated at a 7.

At the first third (25 minutes) you still have the faux strawberry flavor which is really just a combination of other flavors; tangy cedar, brown sugar, a touch of cream, a thread layer of nutmeg, chocolate, and a light black coffee base. The finish is a buttery cream with a decent amount of lingering pepper. But, the pepper has changed to a black pepper, both on the front end and the finish. The cigar is medium bodied leaning toward medium to full. I also had the robusto and I am enjoying this cigar more. This toro has good flavors. For the first third I rated the cigar at 92.

At the second third (49 minutes) I noticed elevations in the chocolate, nutmeg, and coffee notes. Consequently, there were decreases in the sweeter "strawberry" and brown sugar notes. The cigar is still medium to full bodied. The finish now has nutmeg notes to go along with the buttery cream. The lingering black pepper remains pretty good. For me the cigar was better in the first third so I am lowering the second third score to a 90.

The cigar lasted 1 hour 9 minutes. In the final third some of the sweeter notes came back. They made a resurgence to near first third levels. There were still quite a bit of chocolate, nutmeg, and black coffee notes but the sweeter notes equaled those. The cigar is a solid medium to full bodied leaning toward full bodied. The finish was unchanged. This cigar was nice. I really enjoyed the faux strawberry notes which were quite sweet. The chocolate, nutmeg, and coffee held the sweet notes from being too dominant. The strength was very good. Nice cigar. With the uptick in the sweeter notes to near first third amounts I raised the final third score to a 91.

Overall Score: 91
