Weekend review; April 3 & 4, 2010

Well, right past April Fools Day and Easter Sunday! I hope everyone had a great Easter. Truly a day to celebrate victory over death!
.
If you live in the south I don't have to tell you what this is...

But, for those of you who might not have a zillion pine trees around you, it's pine pollen! And this week it started falling. It will continue for about 3 weeks and the only thing that can help is RAIN, lots of rain! Luckily the weather stations are calling for rain this coming Thursday!

It covers everything outside! The cars don't stand a chance. You can rinse them off and an hour later it looks like you didn't touch them! Plus, you get the added "benefit" of breathing it in all the time! Not good. People with allergies really hate this time of year.

Yes, spring is springing but you have to deal with the pollen!

I reviewed 2 cigars this weekend:

  • La Gloria Cubana Serie R no. 3 natural
  • Perdomo 10th Anniversary Champagne torpedo
.
La Gloria Cubana Serie R no. 3 natural (4 1/2x56)

.
Chocolate brown cigar that had an effortless draw! Intense cinnamon spice with good pepper. Finish was long with vanilla notes. The spice has quite a bit of sweetness which carries over to the long finish. Medium bodied. The great cinnamon spice stayed strong to the end. The pepper is subtle but is noticeable.

Perdomo 10th Anniversary Champagne torpedo (7x54)
.

.
Sweet spice notes right from the start with notes of orange and light vanilla. The finish was long with sweet almond notes. The pepper is about average but tends to linger on the finish.

I have liked this cigar since Nick Perdomo gave them out at last year's S.C. Sit Down. This is my first experience with the torpedo version. The ash was tight. The cigar had an even burn. Medium bodied at best. Great flavor in this cigar. More citrus notes emerged after the midpoint. I really enjoyed it.
