Tatuaje MBS FK (4 x 50)

Video review HERE.

(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)
The MBS FK is a new extension to Tatuaje’s incredibly popular Monster Series, a 4 x 50 that is based off of The Krueger release from 2016. The Krueger was the ninth release in the series, which draws on famous movie monsters for its inspiration; in this case, it’s Freddy Krueger from the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise.

Tatuaje’s Pete Johnson says this version is a bit more powerful than the original version. As for the MBS part of the name, that stands for Monster Bomb Squad. Future additions to the MBS line are “up in the air but the plan is to have them,” Johnson said.

The cigar is priced at $8.50 per cigar before taxes, with 1,800 bundles of 10 cigars produced, a total of 18,000 cigars.

Wrapper: Mexican San Andres
Binder: Double Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan

The cigar is dark and has a pigtail fuse at the cap. The foot is closed.

The test draw after cutting the cap was good. The initial flavors at light up were sweet cedar, brown sugar, nice amount of cinnamon, a lot of a thick nutmeg, chocolate, and black coffee. There was black pepper rated at 7 to 7 1/2.

At the first third (24 minutes) I still had the same flavors but the chocolate has no sweetness. It's an unsweetened dark chocolate. The nutmeg is still quite thick. The black coffee and black pepper seems to have increased. The finish is cedar and nutmeg with a very nice amount of lingering black pepper. The cigar is medium/medium to full right now. The cigar has nice sweetness and a lot of dark notes with a thick nutmeg. I rated the first third 94.

Moving through the second third (42 minutes) the lingering black pepper is increasing. The cigar is now full bodied. The front end cedar and brown sugar is nice and at times the cedar has a little twang, but faint. The nutmeg is still very thick. The cigar is holding it's own. I held the score of 94.

The cigar lasted 56 minutes. In the final third the heavy nutmeg and black coffee continued to elevate. The cigar is still full bodied. The finish is unchanged. The nutmeg is very dry now. The black pepper on the front end did tick up a little and it kept going up on the finish. The front end sweeter flavors dipped just a bit due to the elevated nutmeg and black coffee. This is a good little powerhouse cigar. I rated the final third 93.

Overall Score: 93.67
