Warped Flor del Valle Sky Flower 2021 (5 5/8 x 48)

Video review HERE.

Literally meaning "flower of the valley," Warped's Flor Del Valle is a Nicaraguan puro. It debuted in 2014, capturing the attention of cigar connoisseurs with its modernized twist of an iconic old Cuban brand, revitalized through a unique flavor profile and vintage-style artwork. Flor Del Valle cigars are made entirely from esteemed Aganorsa tobacco and rolled at the Fernándezes' factory in Nicaragua (the first Warped cigar not to be produced at the El Titan de Bronze factory in Miami). Each year the cigar comes out in a different size. This year it's a 5 5/8 x 48.

The cigar is medium brown and has a nice feel in the hand.

The test draw after cutting the cap was good with a touch of firmness. The initial flavors at light up were a juicy, orange citrus, underlying apricot, brown sugar, cinnamon, a very thick nutty nutmeg, a little earthiness, and light leather. There was black pepper rated at 7. Nice start but there is a lot of nutmeg.

At the first third (27 minutes) the notes are about the same. I pinned down the nutty flavor in the nutmeg. It's cashew. And it's quite noticeable. I still had the citrus, apricot,  brown sugar, cinnamon, and then you get a nice helping of nutmeg and cashew flavor, followed by light leather. The finish is apricot and light leather with pretty good lingering black pepper. The cigar is medium bodied. I think the elevated nutmeg and cashew holds it back a little but it's still a good cigar. I rated the first third 93.

Moving through the second third (1 hour 6 minutes) not much changed. The leather has increased a little but it actually helps. It makes a bigger base. I still had predominantly apricot, brown sugar, and cinnamon. The nutmeg and cashew has gotten a little more manageable. The cigar is still medium bodied. The finish is apricot with a little underlying leather and good lingering black pepper. The various changes, while minor, had little effect on the enjoy ability of the cigar. I held the score of 93 for the second third.

The cigar lasted 1 hour 33 minutes. A good burn time for this size. Again, not much changed in the final third. There was some increase in earthiness which affected the cigar somewhat. Apricot is still the main flavor, followed by brown sugar and cinnamon, The nutmeg and cashew, which was once so prominent, is not very noticeable. You will notice the increased earthiness and leather. The cigar is medium bodied leaning toward medium to full. The finish is apricot with good lingering black pepper. I lowered the final third score to 92 due to the elevated earthiness but this is a good cigar.

Overall Score: 92.67
