(Description provided by STG)

El Rey del Mundo, the legendary Honduran brand, welcomes its first limited edition cigar with El Rey del Mundo by AJ.

The new expression is available in one box-pressed vitola and features a blend from AJ Fernandez.

El Rey del Mundo by AJ began shipping to all channels of retail in May.

Steve Abbot, director of marketing for STG said, “’El Rey del Mundo by AJ’ takes the foundation we’ve established with El Rey del Mundo and El Rey del Mundo Naturals and brings it to another level. Powered by a Nicaraguan-forward blend, AJ’s take on ‘El Rey’ delivers a fuller-bodied smoking experience. We believe this blend will capture the attention of smokers who might not have tried the brand before.”

Handcrafted by artisans at Tabacelera AJ Fernandez in Esteli, Nicaragua, El Rey Del Mundo by AJ  is made with a Nicaraguan Habano wrapper and filler, with a Connecticut Broadleaf binder.  The cigar delivers both body and balance and imparts hints of dark chocolate, cedar and white pepper on the palate.

El Rey Del Mundo by AJ is presented in 10-count boxes and available until the limited supply of 3,800 boxes is depleted.

El Rey del Mundo by AJ Toro  (6 x 52); SRP per cigar $11.99 (box pressed)

The cigar looks nice and dark. It plays off darker due to the white tissue paper around the majority of the cigar. It has a nice feel in the hand.

The test draw after cutting the cap was good. The initial flavors at light up were were a combination of 3 main flavors; citrus, cedar, and apricot. There were also citrus peel notes, brown sugar, and earthy leather. There was black pepper rated at 7 1/2. I want to see how the flavors develop but not a bad start.

At the first third (27 minutes) the apricot is not quite as prominent. The citrus and cedar are quite prominent, however, along with the brown sugar. There are also walnut notes that are easily detectable. And now there are light toffee notes. The leather is quite manageable. The finish is brown sugar, light citrus, citrus peel, and leather with very good lingering black pepper. The cigar is medium bodied, leaning toward medium to full. I am enjoying the cigar at this point. I rated the first third 93.

As I moved through the second third (52 minutes) the cigar is making some changes. The apricot and citrus are gone but there are still cedar and brown sugar, light toffee, walnuts, leather, and now, black coffee. The pepper is still good. The finish is a lot of brown sugar, a sprinkling of toffee, and a little leather with very good lingering black pepper. The cigar is now medium to full bodied. I wasn't crazy about the loss of citrus and apricot but the cigar still has a lot of sweetness from the brown sugar. I rated the second third 92.

The cigar lasted 1 hour 14 minutes. Not much changed in the final third. The coffee is a little more prominent and it's earthy. It actually overshadows the leather. I still had brown sugar, cedar, light toffee, and walnuts. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish had a nice amount of toffee and a little earthy leather with very good lingering black pepper. With the slight changes the cigar's enjoyability stayed the same as the second third. I held the score of 92. This is the type of cigar I could have many times. It's definitely worth a shot.
