The cigar is huge and a nice barber pole wrapper. It has a nice feel in the hand.
The test draw after cutting the cap was good. The cap tastes sweetened. I do not know if it is but it is definitely sweet. The initial flavors at light up were orange, lemon, tanned leather, and white sugar (table sugar). There was black pepper rated at 7 to 7 1/2. Nice sweet start.
At the first third (30 minutes) the ash is still intact and the cigar is burning fairly evenly. The box press design makes it a little more comfortable in your mouth. The flavors are transitioning. Now I had peach, brown sugar, dry cocoa, a little tanned leather, black coffee, and floral notes. You get the floral notes on retro hale or when you hold the smoke and expel it. The cigar is medium bodied. The finish is white sugar with a hint of peach and good lingering black pepper. The cigar is very sweet with some lower level notes. I rated the first third 94.
As I moved through the second third (52 minutes) I noticed several minute flavor changes. But for the most part you now have peach, hints of toffee, brown sugar, a little citrus peel, and a lot of black coffee. The cigar is medium bodied. The finish is hints of peach, some toffee, a little black coffee, and very good lingering black pepper. The cigar remains good. I held the score of 94.
The cigar lasted 1 hour 30 minutes. A nice burn time for a 70 ring cigar. It burned evenly too. In the final third I had plenty of black coffee, black cherry, a lot more brown sugar, light toffee, and reduced amounts of the floral notes. I didn't notice them in the second third but they're back. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish is unchanged. This is a good cigar. Especially if you like very sweet cigars. I rated the final third 94. Solid cigar.
