Nasser's The Goat (6 x 52)

Video review HERE.

Last March, Nasser’s Lounge—a shop located in Pétion-Ville, Haiti—began selling a store exclusive made by AJ Fernandez. Now, that same cigar is heading to stores all across the U.S.

That cigar is called The Goat, a 6 x 52 toro that uses a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over a Nicaraguan corojo binder and fillers grown by AJ Fernandez. Beginning this month, AJ Fernandez—the distribution company—will sell the cigar to American stores. It has an MSRP of $16 and is sold in boxes of 12 cigars.

“This blend is a testament to excellence and craftsmanship in the world of cigars,” says Jeff Nasser, owner of Nasser’s Lounge, in a press release. “It started as a project between two people with a mutual passion and enduring camaraderie, but the profile and construction made it take flight and prompted its introduction into the US market.”

The cigar is dark and nicely made. The band is unique. The cigar has an average feel in the hand.

The test draw after cutting the cap was good. The initial flavors at light up were a touch of citrus peel and a nice amount of peach, a flash of tanned leather, and black coffee. There was black pepper rated at 8+. Very nice start.

At the first third (26 minutes) the citrus peel is a little more prominent and about even with the peach notes. There's still plenty of black coffee while the tanned leather is subdued. The cigar is medium bodied. The finish is black coffee with hints of tangy peach and very good lingering black pepper. The black pepper has toned down a little to around 7 1/2 to 8. The cigar is tasty to me and something I could smoke a lot more. I rated the first third 94.

As I moved through the second third (56 minutes) nothing has changed. That's the story. Nothing has changed. Still good. I held 94 for the second third.

The cigar lasted 1 hour 18 minutes. In the final third the black coffee rose but that just made a wider base. The strength is medium to full bodied. The finish is unchanged. I really like this cigar. Nice dark noted cigar with sweetness. I held the score of 94. Solid cigar.

Overall Score: 94
