South Carolina Sit Down V

The next SC Sit Down will be October 14th (USC's off-football weekend) at the Wild Hare Sports Bar in Irmo, SC, which is about 15 minutes from Columbia, SC. This will be our 5th Sit Down!!! The start time will again be noon and we'll go until whenever. No vendors have been contacted about supplying cigars for this event as we only hit them up once a year. We plan to have a huge vendor participation next April, 2007.

We will, however, have A. J. Pontillo in attendance. Mr. Pontillo is a new cigar manufacturer who resides in Raleigh, NC. His cigars are getting rave reviews from everyone who tries them. The local cigar shop, The Tobacco Merchant, has them in stock and they sell out fast! Mr. Pontillo will be bringing some cigars for us to try, and he'll probably have his newest creation which is scheduled to debut in late August; the Paragon, a reportedly full bodied cigar with great taste. I am looking forward to trying one of these.

We will also be debuting our official SC Sit Down polo shirt. This is my idea; something else to set us apart from the rest. The shirt will be a first rate polo in a putty color with black and gray sleeve ends. It will have small ribs running vertically. The logo consists of a burning cigar with SC on the band. The rising smoke from the cigar forms the shape of a palmetto tree with a small smoke shape next to it in the shape of the crescent moon signifying the state of South Carolina! These shirts are available for pre-order for $50. Anyone interested in getting one should contact me at ticotych@hotmail.com. Payment in advance will be required and they will be available for pick-up at the Sit Down on October 14th.

Make plans to be here for our 5th edition of this great event.

Tiny Tim's 48th Birthday celebration!

Yep, getting older! That, as they say, is better than the alternative!

It was a nice, relaxing day. After attending a family reunion I returned home for a short nap, then off to the Wild Hare for a couple cigars! Bildo792 surprised me by coming up Saturday to spend the day. Since he lives in Bluffton (Hilton Head), it was quite a effort to drive up for the day. Bill drives a little faster than I do, but it still takes him 2 1/2 hours to get here from HH. I tried to get him to stay the night and drive back Sunday morning but he had to be back on the island to attend his friend's concert at MIDNIGHT!!!! We spent the day at the local cigar shop, then Connie prepared a beaufort stew for supper! Beaufort stew, for you who do not know, is shrimp, corn on the cob, and sausage all boiled in a huge pot! It's GOOD!!!!! After supper we immediately went to a lakeside bar called Docksides for more cigars and nice conversation. Bill left at 9:30pm, so I trust he made it back to the island ok.Yes, this was a very nice birthday weekend.

Bill and I as we're leaving for the cigar shop. I'm holding the Camacho Scorpio that StogiesandHoagies gifted me. These were made by Camacho for Charlie's private cigar club in Charlotte, NC and I'm the only person outside the club to have one (2 actually!)

Connie, me, and Bill at Docksides bar:

Of course, here's my REAL birthday present:
