La Aurora Untamed Extreme Robusto (5 x 50)

The new La Aurora Untamed Extreme is a fuller bodied version of the original Untamed, which I reviewed back in February.

The blend should be the same except that two filler leaves were replaced with more ligero from Pennsylvania and Nicaragua.

The original blend was:
Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf
Binder: Dominican
Filler: Dominican, Nicaraguan

The cigar is very dark and well made. It has a nice density; about average.

The test draw after cutting the cap was perfect. The initial flavors were espresso, molasses, boysenberry, and a touch of a buttery cream. The black pepper rated at an 8 and it lingers very nicely on the finish. The finish is now coffee and dry wood.

About 1 1/2 inches in the flavors are like I described initially but now there is some buttery notes and brown sugar notes. The cigar is full bodied. The buttery notes go well with the brown sugar, espresso, molasses, and boysenberry. it's flavor loaded!!!

Just past the midpoint the molasses notes are subtle. The espresso is off the charts. The boysenberry notes are also subdued. The sweetness is coming form the buttery brown sugar. The finish is now a toasted cream with a little influence of the espresso. There is also a nice amount of lingering black pepper.

At the end the flavor notes continued with the espresso the lead flavor. There is some sweetness from the buttery brown sugar, boysenberry, and molasses, but they are all very subtle. In this case a heavy espresso flavored cigar works. This has been a good cigar and it's a little move upward in strength over the original Untamed. A very good cigar well worth a try for those who like flavorful maduros.
