Perdomo Edicion de Silvio Sun Grown Torpedo (No. 2) (6.1 x 54)

Video review HERE.

These cigars have been around for awhile but Nick Perdomo made a change to the band in 2016. This cigar pays homage to his grandfather Silvio Perdomo and uses only the best tobaccos on Nick's farms.

Wrapper: Nicaraguan Sungrown
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan

The cigar is perfectly constructed. Nick trusts these cigars to only his top torcedors. The wrapper is a reddish brown in color and flawless. The cigar has a nice feel in the hand.

The test draw after taking the minimum from the extremely pointed cap was good. The initial flavors at light up were a very sweet pink grapefruit with a massive amount of cinnamon, caramel, and a light black coffee base. There was black pepper which I rated at an 8. Even at this early stage the lingering pepper on the finish is amazing.

At the first third (30 minutes) there is much more caramel. The cigar developed into a very smooth, sweet cigar. The pink grapefruit is starting to be more of a straight citrus but it remains very sweet. The other flavors are still in play. The cigar is medium bodied at this point but it's moving up the scale. The finish is one of caramel and nutmeg, although I do not get nutmeg on the front end. One thing I decided to do was to use the PerfecDraw tool to open the draw a little more. As you know, the draw tends to tighten as the cigar smokes and I did not want to take any more of the cap. So, I used the PerfecDraw tool and it worked great. It works great on torpedos for just this situation. The cigar continues to be very sweet. The caramel notes are very nice. I rated the first third at a 93.

The second third (60 minutes) has the main front end flavor a sweet cedar with orange peel. I still had plenty caramel notes but now there are brown sugar notes and the cinnamon has toned down. The cigar is now medium to full bodied. The finish is unchanged. The cigar remains very smooth. For the second third score I held the score of 93.

The cigar lasted 1 hour 28 minutes. The primary flavors remained intact but I lost some of the intense sweetness. I'm not sure why but it definitely decreased. The cigar is now full bodied. The finish has a little brown sugar to go along with the caramel and nutmeg. The lingering black pepper toned down but is still good. Due to the loss of some sweetness I am lowering the final third score to a 92. But, this was a very enjoyable cigar.

Overall Score: 93 (92.67)
