The cigar is very dark and well made. It has a very nice feel in the hand.
The test draw after cutting the cap was good with a touch of firmness. The initial flavors at light up were a little hard to pin down. There was the obvious notes of dark chocolate and black coffee with quite a bit of nutmeg. But the sweeter notes were a little less obvious. I finally settled on cedar and a low level of brown sugar. There was black pepper which I rated at 7. The cigar is quite dark with little sweetness at the outset.
Around and inch in +/- the flavors seemed to settle down a little more. Now I had citrus with citrus peel, brown sugar, quite a bit of nutmeg combining with a dry cocoa, dark chocolate, and black coffee. There is some sweetness in the cigar now but not a great deal.
At the first third (33 minutes) the flavors changed somewhat. There is a citrus type flavor with a little brown sugar, dry oak, nutmeg, dark chocolate, and black coffee. I didn't have the dry cocoa any longer. The cigar is making little changes here and there. The cigar is a high grade medium to full bodied. The finish is dark chocolate and nutmeg with a small amount of lingering black pepper. Maduro cigars are subjective to the individual. This one is not really my thing. It's too dark with not enough sweetness but it's something I could smoke. I rated the first third at 90.
As I got through the second third (1 hour 6 minutes) we have a slow burning cigar with a good burn time. At this point the flavors starting whittling down. Now I had orange peel, very little brown sugar, large amount of nutmeg, dark chocolate, and black coffee. The cigar is full bodied. The finish is unchanged. I found the cigar less appealing with the loss of flavors and sweetness. I rated the second third at 88.
The cigar lasted an impressive 1 hour 40 minutes. In the final third the sweetness made a little rebound. You have a lot of nutmeg, dark chocolate, and black coffee in this cigar. You do not have a lot of sweetness. There were still some orange peel notes with a minor amount of sweetness from brown sugar. The cigar is a definite full bodied. The finish is still nutmeg and dark chocolate and there seems to be some coffee notes also. There was average or a little below lingering black pepper. I held the score of 88 for the final third. Even though this cigar was not my type it very well may be yours. If you would like to try these cigars you can purchase them HERE.
Overall Score: 88.67
