Quorum Maduro Toro (6 x 50)

Video review HERE.

In just a few short years, Quorum Nicaraguan Handmades have become the No. 1 selling
imported handmade bundle cigar in the world. J.C. Newman’s dedication to quality has been
materialized in these smooth, medium-bodied cigars available at a price accessible to even
the most discriminating of wallets.

Quorum cigars are handmade in Nicaragua, a country known for rich soil producing some
of the world’s heartiest, full-bodied tobacco. Avail-able in three varieties, Classic, Shade and
Maduro. These cigars contain binders and wrappers that make each blend unique.

The combination of the spiciness of the upper priming sumatra sungrown wrapper with the smoothness of the genuine Connecticut broadleaf binder gives Quorum maduro its naturally sweet and rich maduro flavor.

The cigar is a little rough looking but has an average feel in the hand.

The test draw after cutting the cap was a litle firm but workable. The initial flavors at light up were green, unripened peach, hints of brown sugar, chocolate, nutmeg, and black coffee. There was a nice black pepper rated at 7 1/2. One of the more interesting starts I've run across lately.

At the first third (27 minutes) the flavors settled down somewhat. You still have that unripened peach flavor. You now also have anise. There is a touch of brown sugar. There is plenty of nutmeg, semi-sweet dark chocolate, and black coffee. The finish is coffee, dark chocolate, and a touch of anise with a nice amount of lingering black pepper. The cigar is medium bodied. The cigar is not burning too fast, which can happen with mixed filler cigars, and the ash is doing fine. It's fairly tight. I rated the first third at 92.

Moving through the second third (54 minutes) the dark chocolate and coffee notes blew up. They are everywhere. The nutmeg is very oily. The unripened peach is a wet/oily flavor also. These two combine to make an interesting flavor. Not exactly a flavor I hope for but it's interesting. But, I seem to have lost the brown sugar notes. However, I really like the dark chocolate and black coffee flavor. I lowered the second third slightly to 91.

The cigar lasted 1 hour 20 minutes. About average for a 6x50 toro. So, the cigar did not burn too fast with the medium filler. The ash also performed pretty good. It did drop once but luckily it fell in the ash tray and not in my lap. But I've had $15 cigars drop the ash so that's not a deal breaker. And, the cigar burned pretty evenly. In the final third the flavors were predominently unsweetened dark chocolate and black coffee. The black pepper has been very good on both ends. The oily flavor from the unripened peach and nutmeg really decreased. The cigar is a low grade full bodied, or high grade medium to full; your call. Overall the cigar is pretty good. I rated the final third at 90. You can purchase these cigars HERE.
