Video review HERE.
The Undercrown Corona Pequena is a 4” x 44 petite corona, perfect to light up on the go or on those frigid winter days.
The Undercrown Shade Corona Pequena features an Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper over a Sumatra binder with Dominican and Nicaraguan Filler leaves.
From the Wynwood Safehouse, Jonathan Drew Founder and President of Drew Estate adds, “Corona Pequena’s are short, squat, flavor bombs that sit between the tin size and the robusto size in the Undercrown brand family. We could go on and on about the “functionality” of this short smoke during winter months - but there is something absolutely beautiful about the Corona Pequena that is more meaningful than just utilitarianism. This cigar is a stunner in both taste and trade dress. The whole DE team is really proud of this little gem. Wurd to Westchester.”
The Undercrown Corona Pequena is packaged in 32 count boxes with an MSRP of $176.00/box.
The cigar is a golden brown and almost matches the gold in the band.
The test draw after cutting the cap was good. The initial flavors at light up were cedar with a touch of citrus influence, a lot of sweet cream notes, brown sugar, a vegetable-type nutmeg, and a black coffee base. There was black pepper rated at 7 1/2. The cigar had a nice, light, sweet start.
At the first third (26 minutes) the cream has some toasted notes. There are more cedar notes now and the light citrus notes have decreased. The brown sugar is nice. The cream and nutmeg combine nicely. The cream notes in this cigar are nice and not over the top. The cigar is mild to medium at this point. The cigar is a nice Connecticut at this point. I rated the first third at 92.
As I moved through the second third (46 minutes) the cigar improved. The tangy notes really came out making a very nice tangy cedar and brown sugar. The cream notes are not toasted any longer but they continue to combine nicely with the nutmeg notes. The cigar is now a high grade medium bodied. The finish is sweet cream and nutmeg with a nice amount of lingering black pepper. The cigar made a turn for the better for me. I rated the second third at 93.
The cigar lasted 1 hour 4 minutes. I actually got 10 more minutes out of this Connecticut than the maduro version but I always take Connecticut's extremely slow to get the best flavors. In the final third the nice tangy cedar decreased. The cigar reverted back to the way it was in the first third. The finish was unchanged. The cigar did, however, reach medium to full bodied. This would make a nice, quick morning cigar. I rated the final third 92.
Overall Score: 92.33
