(Description taken from Cigar-coop.com website)

Foundation Cigar Company has announced the addition of two perfectos to The Tabernacle line. Keeping to the biblical inspiration for this theme, the new perfectos are called David & Goliath.

The Tabernacle David is a 5 x 54 perfecto while The Tabernacle Goliath is a 5 x 58 perfecto. Both David & Goliath will be packaged in 25-count boxes. Like the rest of The Tabernacle line, production for the David & Goliath perfectos comes from AJ Fernandez’s factory in EstelĂ, Nicaragua. The blend features a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper over a San Andres Mexican binder and fillers from Nicaragua and Honduras.

“The Tabernacle blend in these two sizes deliver depth, complexity, body, and flavor. These sizes are special because they complement an amazing blend of some of the best tobaccos in the world,” commented Foundation Cigar Company owner Nicholas Melillo.

Pricing is set at $300.00 per box for the David and $350.00 per box for the Goliath.

The cigar is beautiful. I love the shape and the ornate bands. It has an average feel in the hand.

The test draw after cutting the cap was very good. The initial flavors at light up were hints of orange citrus, lots of orange peel, brown sugar, nutmeg, and black coffee. There was black pepper rated at 7 1/2.

At the first third (24 minutes) the cigar had slightly more orange citrus notes. Predominantly the cigar has more orange peel but the citrus notes did increase slightly. The black coffee is not overly heavy at this point. The finish is nutmeg with a touch of citrus notes. The cigar is medium bodied. I rated the first third 92.

As I moved through the second third (45 minutes) the cigar changed enormously. Now the cigar has large amounts of black coffee and nutmeg with hints of orange peel and micro-hints of brown sugar. The cigar is full bodied. The finish is black coffee with nutmeg. The lingering black pepper is moderate. The cigar had a massive change and it was not for the better. I rated the second third 87.

The cigar lasted 1 hour 3 minutes. The final third was pretty much a carbon copy of the second third; lots of black coffee and nutmeg notes. The average person probably won't notice anything else. But there are slight hints of orange peel and brown sugar. The cigar is full bodied. The black pepper is pretty good but for the most part smoking this cigar is like smoking a cup of black coffee. I held the score of 87 for the final third. I had high hopes for this cigar but they did not materialize.

Overall Score: 88.67
