(Description taken from halfwheel.com website)

Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust released a “tweaked” version of the Sobremesa Brûlée blend named Sobremesa Brûlée Blue. Available in just one size—a 6 1/4 x 46 grand corona with a pigtail cap—the new cigar incorporates an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper covering a Mexican binder and four different Nicaraguan fillers and have been aged for at least one year after being rolled.

Production-wise, the Sobremesa Brûlée Blue was rolled at the Fabrica de Tabacos Joya de Nicaragua S.A. factory and limited to 1,000 boxes of 13 cigars, with each cigar carrying a retail price of $14.95. The new release was originally scheduled to be released at the 2020 PCA Convention & Trade Show, which was scheduled to take place July 11-14 in Las Vegas. However, the convention was canceled due to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic and boxes began shipping to retailers on Aug. 13.

Blend info and origin:

Wrapper: Ecuador (Connecticut)

Binder: Mexico (Matacapan negro de Temporal)

Filler: Nicaragua

Length: 6 1/4 Inches

Ring Gauge: 46

Vitola: Grand Corona

MSRP: $14.95 (Box of 13, $194.35)

The cigar is very golden in color and has an average feel in the hand.

The cap is finish with a tight pigtail.

The test draw after cutting away the pigtail was very good. The initial flavors at light up were orange peel, orange citrus, creamy nutmeg, brown sugar, and a light black coffee base. There was white pepper rated at 7. Initially there was not really cream notes but the nutmeg is very creamy.

At the first third (28 minutes) the cigar is very much like I initially described. But, there now seems to be an additional flavor of pear and it follows the orange peel and orange citrus notes. There is now a slight touch of cream that seems to run through the flavors. The black coffee is a little more noticeable. The cigar is medium bodied. The finish is brown sugar and orange peel with modest lingering white pepper. I rated the first third 93.

As I moved through the second third (52 minutes) I started to get some leathery notes. They were rather light but noticeable. The cigar is now medium to full bodied. This cigar is very different from the previously released Sobremesa Brûlée, which I reviewed October 1, 2019. This cigar is not quite as sweet and has light leather notes, not as much straight orange citrus, and it's a little fuller. There continues to be a dribble of cream joining the flavor notes. The black coffee is becoming more pronounced. The finish is unchanged. The various changes did not affect the scoring. I held the score of 93 for the second third.

The cigar lasted 1 hour 19 minutes. In the final third I lost the light cream notes which were very light throughout the cigar. The other flavors were still in play. The black coffee continued to edge up. The cigar took just a slight turn down for me. I rated the final third 92. This cigar took a different path during the smoking experience but it ended at the same place as the original Sobremesa Brûlée receiving the same overall score. This cigar was enjoyable but very different from the original release.

Overall Score: 92.67
