Adventura The Royal Return-Queen's Pearls Robusto (4 1/2 x 50)

Video review HERE.

(Description taken from Cigar-coop.com website)

ADVentura The Royal Return is a two-cigar line that was introduced by ADVentura Cigars in 2021. ADVentura Cigars was founded by Henderson Ventura and Marcel Knobel. It’s a brand of cigars that comes out of Tabacalera William Ventura in the Dominican Republic. This is a factory that has earned a reputation for making cigars for companies such as Caldwell Cigar Company, La Barba Cigars, and Room101 Cigars. The Royal Return is actually a two-cigar line consisting of Queen’s Pearls, a Connecticut Shade; and King’s Gold, a Connecticut Broadleaf. The common denominator with both of these cigars is that the Connecticut Shade and Connecticut Broadleaf wrappers had not been used on any ongoing ADventura offerings until the release of The Royal Return.

The lines in the ADVentura Cigars portfolio have had a theme of exploration. This has been seen in offerings such as ADVentura – The Explorer, ADVentura – The Navigator, and ADVentura – The Conquerer. With ADVentura – The Royal Return, the theme focuses on explorers bringing back gifts for the Queen and King from a sea voyage. As the name indicates, this includes pearls for the Queen and gold for the King. Both the Queen’s Pearl and King’s Gold are positioned as more ultra-premium offerings in the ADVentura portfolio.

Blend and Origin

In addition to a Connecticut Shade wrapper, The Royal Return Queen’s Pearls features an Ecuadorian binder and fillers from Ecuador, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic. According to ADVentura Cigars, the tobaccos used have five years of age, and the rolled cigars have been aging for four months. ADVentura says the tobaccos go through a special fermentation process to give them a lighter profile.

The cigar is a very light golden brown. It has a light to average feel in the hand.

The test draw after cutting the cap was good. The initial flavors at light up were cedar, brown sugar, and quite a bit of white chocolate. There was nice white pepper rated at 8 minimum.

At the first third (17 minutes) the flavor notes are about the same but there is one additional one now; tangy sweet tangerine. There is a heavy white chocolate note that is creamy, almost like there is cream as one of the flavors. The finish is white chocolate, a touch of citrus, and very nice lingering white pepper. The cigar is medium bodied. Nice flavors in this cigar. I rated the first third 93.

Moving through the second third (37 minutes) the white chocolate and brown sugar are not quite as pronounced. The brown sugar is still there but not the citrus note. There seems to be an influence of nutmeg overshadowing the white chocolate. The white pepper is still in abundance. And I love it! The finish is white chocolate, brown sugar, and nutmeg with excellent lingering white pepper. The cigar is still medium bodied. I rated the second third 91.

The cigar lasted 49 minutes. I had hoped the white chocolate and brown sugar notes would bounce back in the final third but that was not the case. There was a modest increase in the brown sugar but the white chocolate stayed about the same as the second third. The bright spot was the white pepper remained very nice and elevated. The cigar stayed medium bodied and the finish was unchanged. Even though I love the white pepper it cannot carry the cigar. I held the score of 91 for the final third. I believe the corona size would be better and I may decide to review it later.

Overall Score: 91.67
