In 2016, Dr. Stefan Lampert launched his own cigar company with an idea called My Cigar Lab; now, his cigars are making their U.S. debut.
Specifically, the new Lampert 1675 Edición AZUL began shipping to stores last week. It’s a new line produced at AgroIndustrial Nicaraguense de Tabacos S.A. in Condega, Nicaragua. It uses an Ecuadorian wrapper over a Nicaragua binder and fillers from Condega and Jalapa, Nicaragua as well as Peruvian ligero. The line was blended by Indiana Ortez, who recently became the general manager of Mombacho Cigars S.A. in Granada.
Vitolas:

The cigar is medium brown and has an average or better feel in the hand.
The test draw after cutting the cap was good. The initial flavors at light up were a citrus/cedar, citrus peel, almond, brown sugar, light nutmeg, and a very light black coffee. There was black pepper rated at 7.
At the first third (41 minutes) the flavors are about the same; citrus/cedar with a little tanginess in the citrus, brown sugar, quite a bit of nutmeg, and a developing black coffee base. The citrus peel is lighter but still in the mix. The finish is a little citrus with citrus peel in a syrup-like mixture with pretty good lingering black pepper. The flavors in this cigar are nice. I wish they were a little more intense. I rated the first third 91.
Moving through the second third (1 hour 23 minutes) the same flavor notes are in play. I still get flashes of the almonds from time to time. The nutmeg is quite earthy and a little leathery and it's elevated. The black coffee is noticeable and somewhat elevated. The finish is unchanged. The cigar is medium bodied. The cigar is good but not great. I rated the second third 89.
The cigar lasted 1 hour 46 minutes. The cigar got more earthy. The nutmeg and black coffee are earthier. You still have some sweet notes but the earthiness overshadows them. The cigar is medium bodied leaning toward medium to full. The finish is nutmeg and a touch of sweetness from the citrus notes with nice lingering black pepper. The increased earthiness caused me to lower the score to 87. A nice cigar overall but the sweeter notes could be more intense. I purchased these cigars at Smallbatchcigar.com.
