The cigar is a medium brown and has an average feel in the hand for a robusto.
The test draw after cutting the cap was good. The initial flavors at light up were leather, citrus, light citrus peel, and nutmeg. There was black pepper rated at 7 1/2 to 8. Not a bad start.
At the first third (26 minutes) the cigar has slightly improved. I now had light citrus, citrus peel, creamy nutmeg, light nougat, and leather. The black pepper and leather act as a base at this point. The black pepper remains around an 8 in intensity. The finish is primarily leather with citrus influence and a good amount of lingering black pepper. The cigar is medium bodied leaning toward medium to full. I rated the first third 93. I would urge you to have a clean palate before smoking this cigar. I suggest having an apple followed by several swallows of water to cleanse the palate.
Moving through the second third (51 minutes) the leather has increased a little. There is also a slight bitterness in the cigar. I still had citrus, citrus peel, light nougat, nutmeg, and now there is a black coffee base. The finish is leather and a little citrus with very good lingering black pepper. The slight bitterness is a negative. The cigar is now medium to full bodied. I rated the second third 91.
The cigar lasted 1 hour 11 minutes. The bitterness decreased in the final third. There is still plenty of citrus and brown sugar, leather, light nutmeg, and black coffee. I didn't have the nougat notes. The cigar is sweeter and less bitter. The cigar is now full bodied. The finish is unchanged. I raised the score to 92 for the final third.
