My Blue Heaven 2021 (5 x 50)

Video review HERE.

(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)

Around the first of August the LCA began shipping My Blue Heaven. It is not part of the LCA’s formal exclusive program, but rather part of a group of cigars that the organization refers to as “LCA Plus,” unique or exclusive cigars which stores can elect to carry.

It is the third installment of My Blue Heaven, having been released in 2019 and 2020 for Privada Cigar Club members. It is made at AGANORSA Leaf’s Tabacos Valle de Jalapa S.A. factory using a Mexican San AndrĂ©s wrapper, dual Nicaraguan binders of criollo 98 and corojo 99, with those same two varietals also in the filler.

Unlike the two previous releases, which came in a 6 x 44 vitola, this new version is offered as a 5 x 50 robusto, and now wears a band whereas the previous two did not. It is priced at $10.25 per cigar, with production numbers not being disclosed.

The cigar is a medium to dark brown and has a nice feel in the hand.

The test draw after cutting the cap was very good. The initial flavors at light up were citrus peel, cedar, touch of brown sugar, leather, earthy nutmeg, and black coffee. There was red and black pepper rated at 7 1/2.

At the first third (33 minutes) I still had cedar, brown sugar, a little leather, a little nutmeg, and earthy black pepper. There was still some of the red and black pepper. The cigar's flavors are not bad but they're definitely not wowing me. The finish is a nutmeg, cedar, and toffee combination with pretty good lingering black pepper. The cigar is medium bodied. I rated the first third 88.

Moving through the second third (54 minutes) the cigar seems to be an average sampling at best. There is still cedar, brown sugar, faint toffee notes, a little leather, and a very earthy nutmeg and black coffee. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish is unchanged. I rated the second third 86.

The cigar lasted 1 hour 13 minutes. The cigar continued to not impress me. By and large I had the same flavor notes and the cigar is a bit earthier. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish is unchanged. While not a bad tasting cigar it's just not something that grabs me. I rated the final third 85.

Overall Score: 86.33
