Video review HERE.
Bob de Goede (Xhaxhi Bobi, or "Uncle Bob") is a Dutch man who made cigar boxes for Dominican cigar companies for decades before starting his own brand of cigars.
The cigar is the LCA cigar for October. It consists of a Mexican San Andres wrapper, a Pennsylvania binder that is a rare proprietary tobacco, and fillers from Nicaragua and DR. This unique LCA (Limited Cigar Association) exclusive cigar is rolled at Intercigar S.A., Tamboril, Dominican Republic. These cigars are available to shops and lounges who are members of the LCA.
Wrapper: Mexican San Andres
Binder: Pennsylvanian
Filler: Nicaraguan / Dominican
The cigar is very dark and well made. I love the "little guy" on the band. Very Halloween-like. The cigar has a very good feel in the hand.
The test draw after cutting the cap was good. The initial flavors were sweet citrus, cedar, light citrus peel, brown sugar, cinnamon, chocolate, black coffee, and light almonds. There was black pepper rated at 7 1/2. A pretty good start.
At the first third (28 minutes) the notes are about the same; a very nice, sweet, tangy citrus, underlying cedar, brown sugar, cinnamon, light citrus peel, elevated almonds in the form of almond butter, chocolate, and black coffee. The finish is citrus and almonds with good lingering black pepper. The cigar is medium bodied. The cigar is quite tasty. I rated the first third 94.
Moving through the second third (58 minutes) the almond butter continues to rise. There are still very pronounced citrus notes, more defined underlying cedar, brown sugar, cinnamon, very light chocolate, and black coffee. The black pepper is still very good. The cigar is medium bodied. The finish is unchanged with better lingering black pepper. The elevated almond butter is taking away a little something. I rated the second third 93.
The cigar lasted 1 hour 22 minutes. The citrus notes really decreased. There is still a little cedar, a little brown sugar, plenty of cinnamon, elevated almond butter, and much elevated black coffee. If there is any chocolate there it's dark chocolate. But pretty much all I get is a lot of black coffee. The finish has residues of cinnamon, almond butter, and a little cedar. The lingering black pepper is very good. The cigar is full bodied and a very full bodied at that. It really ramped up. I rated the final third 90. The cigar took a little dive in the final third. Still, overall a pretty good cigar.
