Partagas Decadas 2021 is an artistically blended, limited edition expression that celebrates the element of discovery. Created to honor the intrepid spirit of Partagas’ founder Ramón Cifuentes, this new release features an exotic Brazilian-grown Cameroon wrapper, a first for Partagas.
Matt Wilson, senior brand manager of Partagas said, “Partagas Decadas 2021 was created for cigar connoisseurs who seek extraordinary smoking experiences. The blend was developed to deepen the intrigue of our proprietary, Brazilian grown Cameroon wrapper and delivers the ultimate super premium indulgence. This is a smoke that the true cigar lover should seek to add to their collection.”
Partagas Decadas 2021 features a rare and delicate Cameroon wrapper grown in Brazil’s fertile Bahia region. There, the microclimate and curing process produce a creamy leaf that blends beautifully with other varieties of tobacco.
The super-premium offering boasts a blend of proprietary tobaccos from various Nicaraguan growing regions including Ometepe, Esteli and Nicaraguan Jalapa, and is layered with a rich Dominican Piloto Cubano. A Connecticut Havano binder completes the blend. The aged tobaccos come together to deliver nutty, earthy accents with pleasant pepper notes, culminating in a memorable, layered smoking experience.
Developed to optimize the tobaccos that comprise Partagas Decadas 2021, the blend will be released in a single size. Meticulously handcrafted according to the exacting standards set forth by Ramón Cifuentes, the 6” x 52 cigar called Toro will sell for $17.99 per cigar. Presented in individual coffins encased in ten-count boxes, Partagas Decadas 2021 is handcrafted by artisans at General Cigar Dominicana in Santiago, D.R.
The cigar is dark and has a nice feel in the hand.
The test draw after cutting the cap was very good. The initial flavors at light up were citrus, apricot, brown sugar, and light worn leather. There was initially white pepper rated at 7 to 7 1/2. There are the beginnings of some sort of caramel-esque type flavor but it's so light I'll have to see how it develops.
At the first third (29 minutes) the mystery flavor had developed. It is actually toffee and nougat. The other flavors are still in play; citrus, apricot, brown sugar, and a little more noticeable leather. The finish is citrus and toffee average lingering white pepper. The cigar is medium bodied. The cigar is nice but not very bold. The notes are rather average in their presence but nice in flavor. I am hoping something develops and stands out as we go along. I rated the first third 92.
Moving through the second third (1 hour 1 minute) the stand out flavors I wanted have developed. The citrus notes, nougat and toffee, and a new flavor of black coffee have all jumped out. The pepper is changing over to a white/black pepper combination and I rate it at 7 1/2. The finish is toffee, nougat, and a lot of lingering black pepper. (It changed over on the finish) The cigar is now medium to full bodied. The cigar is the best it's been so far. The intensified notes of citrus, nougat, toffee, and coffee have made the cigar very nice. I rated the second third 94.
The cigar lasted 1 hour 31 minutes. In the final third we had another big move. The citrus and apricot are gone. I cannot detect them. The toffee, nougat, and brown sugar remain for the sweet flavors. There is now black pepper on the front end and there is a lot of lingering black pepper. The finish is toffee and a lot of lingering black pepper. The cigar is now full bodied. It's quite strange that the citrus and apricot would totally disappear but that's what happened. The cigar lost a lot when it lost those 2. I rated the final third 91. This cigar made some major changes from the first third through the second. Then it made an equally big change from the second through the third. Still, overall this is a pretty good cigar.
