Black Star Line Cigars has announced a new version of its popular War Witch line. The 2021 edition the Dark War Witch will be a Nicaraguan puro highlighted by a Nicaraguan Corojo ’99 wrapper. Like the original War Witch, the 2021 Dark War Witch is produced at Aganorsa’s Tabacos Valle de Jalapa S.A. (TABSA) factory. The cigar will be available in one size – a 6 x 46 Corona box press.
The original War Witch featured a Connecticut Shade wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and fillers.
“The original War Witch is a fantastic blend that quickly became a favorite among many smokers. Aganorsa Leaf did a great job rolling that cigar for us, and the public let us know they love it. Fans of the original had been asking for a full-bodied version of the cigar. I’m just giving the people what they want. This cigar is magically delicious.” excitedly quips Aric Bey, CEO/Owner of Black Star Line Cigars in a press release.
Dark War Witch will be presented in boxes and bundles of 20. The bundles are currently available, and the boxes will be available in early December. The release will be available to select retailers for $11.99 per individual cigar.

The cigar is medium brown and has an average feel in the hand. The cigar is listed as 46 ring but it looks bigger than that.
The test draw was ok but it had some firmness. The initial flavors at light up were citrus, peach, brown sugar, nutmeg, and quite a bit of new leather. There was black pepper rated at 7. Nice start with a lot of leather.
At the first third (26 minutes) I still had peach and light citrus, nougat, nutmeg, and a decent amount of leather. The cigar is medium bodied at this point. The finish is peach and nougat with good lingering black pepper. The cigar has nice flavors. I rated the first third 93.
As I moved through the second third (58 minutes) I had a new flavor; walnut. The leather has gotten quite earthy. I still had peach, nougat, and earthy leather. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The cigar is still quite sweet but it has a lot of earthiness. The two seem to fight each other. The earthiness seems to take away from the enjoyment for me. I rated the second third 91.
The cigar lasted 1 hour 31 minutes. The cigar continued to increase in earthiness. But the cigar is still quite sweet. Again, they seem to fight each other for dominance. The cigar is now full bodied. The flavors are peach, light nougat, walnut, and earthy leather. The finish is peach and leather with good lingering black pepper. The earthiness gets in the way for me. I rated the final third 90. Still, overall it's not a bad cigar.
