Intergalactic Corona Larga by Black Works Studio (6 1/4 x 46)

Video review HERE.

(Description provided by Black Works Studio)

Black Works Studio (BLK WKS) has released INTERGALACTIC; hand crafted at Fabrica Oveja Negra in Esteli, Nicaragua.

INTERGALACTIC is a new Limited Edition that began shipping to select BLK WKS retailers in mid-January. It is also be available in Belgium and Germany.

"Intergalactic is a unique cigar for Black Works Studio. I would consider it in a more traditional wheelhouse in terms of its overall profile with a definite Oveja Negra twist. The blend starts with bold spice followed by herbal and cedar notes. The finish is a balance of different layers. The spice and earthy notes of the Nicaragua filler tobaccos are gently brought together with the creamy, subtle sweetness of the dark Sumatra wrapper. This cigar is both bold and subtle all at the same time." says James Brown, creator of BLTC and partner at Fabrica Oveja Negra.

The cigar is well made and has a pigtail cap.

It has a closed foot and an average or above feel in the hand.

The test draw after cutting the cap was very good. The initial flavors at light up were received very quickly; citrus, cedar, brown sugar, underlying nougat, cinnamon, dry nutmeg, and a leathery, earthy black coffee. There was black pepper rated at 7 1/2 to 8. The cigar is very sweet. The combination of citrus, brown sugar, and nougat are very nice.

At the first third (21 minutes) the citrus has toned down but not the brown sugar and nougat. And now there are toffee notes giving the cigar added sweetness. The cinnamon has increased. The nutmeg is still there in the mix but you probably won't notice it much. The leathery, earthy black coffee makes a nice base. Again, it's not in the way. You will only be thinking about the nice sweetness. The black pepper is fantastic. It's every bit of an 8 at this point. The finish is some brown sugar and cinnamon with nutmeg. The lingering black pepper is good. The cigar is excellent at this point. I rated the first third 95.

As I moved through the second third (37 minutes) the leathery, earthy black coffee decided to make a big move upward. The nice sweet notes, which are still there, are very much decreased. The black pepper is still very good. The finish is unchanged. The cigar is medium bodied. The cigar took a dip in the second third. I rated it 92.

The cigar lasted 56 minutes. I used the PerfecDraw to nub the cigar to the very end. The reason is simple; the cigar made a huge bounce back. It got identical to the first third. All the increased leathery, earthy black coffee dropped back to the amount it was in the first third. The cigar is still medium bodied and the finish is unchanged. It got back to the nice, sweet, peppery cigar as it started. The black pepper was never an issue. It was good in all three segments. I rated the final third 95. Overall this is a fantastic cigar.

Overall Score: 94
