Davidoff has introduced its fourth limited edition cigar under the Davidoff Winston Churchill brand, the Davidoff Winston Churchill Limited Edition 2022.
The Davidoff Winston Churchill will be available in one size – a 5 7/8 x 61 perfecto. According to Davidoff, the blend combines elements from the core Davidoff Winston Churchill and Davidoff Winston Churchill Late Hour lines. The blend features an Ecuadorian wrapper, San Andres Negro binder, and a combination of Dominican and Ecuadorian fillers. A total of 12,300 ten-count boxes will be made available. The box design was inspired by Sir Winston Churchill’s briefcase.
“Sir Winston Churchill was an exceptional man and a unique leader with diversified interests and talents. At Davidoff, we are humbled and excited to bring the many dimensions and stories of this inspiring aficionado to life”, says Edward Simon, CMO at Oettinger Davidoff AG in a press release.

The cigar is beautifully made and has an average feel in the hand.
The test draw after cutting the cap was good considering the small opening. The initial flavors at light up were citrus peel and leather. Now, taking into consideration the very small ring at this point it would be safe to expect more flavors as we move to larger ring sizes of the cigar.
At the first third (29 minutes) the ash is still intact. The notes at this point are citrus peel, light apricot, light brown sugar, chewy, thick nutmeg, cashews, leather, and black coffee. There is very little pronounced sweetness. The finish has a hint of apricot with lots of nutmeg and leather with average lingering black pepper. The cigar is medium bodied. I reviewed the 2021 version last year and it came in at number 2 for the year. It was an impressive cigar. This cigar is not impressive so far. I rated the first third 88.
Moving through the second third (57 minutes) there was only a hint of apricot and high levels of nutmeg, leather, and black coffee. The finish is a drop of apricot, leather, nutmeg, and improved lingering black pepper. It is still medium bodied. This cigar is a big contrast to last year's version. Since this section was the fattest section of the cigar it should have given the best representation of flavors. It was unimpressive. I rated the second third 85.
The cigar lasted 1 hour 21 minutes. With the cigar getting into the smaller ring gauges I was able to get a little more apricot. It was just a little more but it was more. I also had citrus peel, nutmeg, leather, and black coffee. The cigar ended at medium bodied. The finish is light apricot, nutmeg, and light leather with above average lingering black pepper. The cigar made a little improvement so I raised the final third score to 86. I simply was not impressed with this year's version of the cigar. Too back it wasn't as good as last year's.
