Villiger TAA Exclusive 2022 (6 x 52)

Video review HERE.

(Description taken from Cigar-coop.com website)

For the third year in a row, Villiger Cigars will have a cigar as a part of the Tobacconists Association of America (TAA) Exclusive Series. At the 2022 TAA Convention in Cabo San Lucas Mexico, Villiger Cigars would introduce the Villiger TAA 2022 cigar.

Each of the three Villiger TAA Cigars have been limited editions and have been produced at different factories. The Villiger TAA 2020 came from Ernesto Perez-Carrillo’s Tabacalera La Alianza factory. The Villiger 2021 came from Jochy Blanco’s Tabacalera La Palma factory. Now the Villiger TAA 2022 series comes from Erik Espinosa’s La Zona factory. It’s the first time the La Zona factory has produced a TAA cigar.

The cigar itself is a 6 x 52 box-pressed Toro featuring a San Andres Mexican wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler. The TAA has reported a total of 500 20-count boxes will be produced.

The cigar is well made and a nice box press. It has a nice feel in the hand.

The test draw after cutting the cap was good. The initial flavors at light up were citrus, plum, citrus peel, brown sugar, chocolate, and light black coffee. There was black pepper rated at 8. A very good start.

At the first third (31 minutes) I had the same flavor notes. Nothing has changed. But, that's a good thing. Even the pepper is still high. Again, a good thing. The cigar is medium bodied leaning heavily toward medium to full. The finish is plum, a touch of citrus, and chocolate with very good lingering black pepper. I rated the first third 94.

As I moved through the second third (59 minutes) the sweeter notes dipped a litle. The chocolate and black coffee are a little more prominent. But there is now light toffee in the mix. The cigar is now medium to full bodied. The finish had light plum, toffee, chocolate, light black coffee, and very good lingering black pepper. The cigar didn't make a major change but the second third score is 93.

The cigar lasted 1 hour 29 minutes. The cigar burned very evenly. For the most part the cigar held serve in the final third. Not much changed. The finish was also unchanged. The cigar is now full bodied. Espinosa did a very good job with this cigar. I held the score of 93 for the final third.

Overall Score: 93.33
