Rojas Unfinished Business Corona Gorda (6 x 46)

Video review HERE.

(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)

Noel Rojas of Rojas Cigars has a new cigar that he’s calling Unfinished Business.

It uses a Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, Nicaraguan binder and fillers from Nicaragua and Mexico. In keeping with his theme of focusing on smaller ring gauge, Rojas will be releasing it in four sizes, none with more than a 50 ring gauge:

Mareva 5 1/8 x 42 $7.50,

Robusto 5 x 50) $8.50,

Toro 6 x 50 $10.50, and

Corona Gorda 6 x 46 $9.98 REVIEWED TODAY

“It’s a medium body cigar with lots of flavors,” Rojas told halfwheel.

Rojas is producing the cigars at his factory in Estelí, which he is also in the process of remodeling.

The cigar is a soft box press and has an average feel in the hand.

The test draw after cutting the cap was good. The initial flavors at light up were apricot, citrus peel, brown sugar, a little nutmeg, and a lot of leather. There was black pepper rated at 7. There's some sweetness but a lot of leather to start.

At the first third (20 minutes) there are black coffee notes to go along with the leather. There's quite a bit of citrus peel, light apricot and brown sugar, and a lot of leather and black coffee. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish is apricot and leather with good lingering black pepper. The cigar is pretty good but leathery. I rated the first third 92.

As I moved through the second third (43 minutes) the leather and black coffee are rising. There are citrus peel, faint apricot, light brown sugar, lots of leather and black coffee. The cigar is still medium to full bodied. The finish is leather with good lingering black pepper. It's obvious this is designed to be a very leathery cigar. I would prefer more sweetness with this much leather. I rated the second third 89.

The cigar lasted 1 hour 6 minutes. Now there are only hints of anything sweet. But there is a lot of leather and black coffee. The cigar is now full bodied. The finish is leather with good lingering black pepper. A lot of people may like a very leathery cigar with light sweetness but I prefer one with substantial sweetness. So, I rated the final third 86. If you like leather and black coffee this may be for you.

Overall Score: 89
