Tatjuaje The Drac Redux 2 (6 3/4 x 52 belicoso)

Video review HERE.

(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)

The Drac was the second cigar to be released in Tatuaje’s Monster Series, debuting in October 2009. The redux version will come in the same 6 3/4 x 52 belicoso vitola, with the blend still using an Ecuadorian habano maduro over a Nicaraguan dual binder and filler. Johnson said that he made a minor tweak to the internal blend to achieve “a little more balance and flavor,” however.

Johnson noted that while there are many similarities between the original and redux versions, there are some differences, as the redux has a covered foot, while the bands will be embossed as opposed to the flat, printed bands of the original cigars. Those bands will also be placed in the traditional position, as the original version’s band was wrapped around the very bottom of the cigar’s foot, and upside down on top of that.

Pricing is set at $13 per cigar, with production limited to 4,000 boxes of 13 cigars, which is 20 percent fewer than the amount of cigars that Tatuaje released for The Frank Redux in 2021. It is made at My Father Cigars S.A. in Estelí, Nicaragua.

The cigar looks nice and quite dark. It has a nice feel in the hand.

The test draw after cutting the cap was a little too firm. So, I used the PerfecDraw tool to open the draw. The initial flavors at light up were lemony citrus, brown sugar, thick, chewy nutmeg, and dark chocolate. There was black pepper rated at 7 to 7 1/2.

At the first third (34 minutes) I had the same flavor notes. There is a lot of dark chocolate in the cigar and it has not sweetness. The lemony citrus and brown sugar have decreased somewhat since the light up. Plus there is a lot of the thick, chewy nutmeg in the mix. The cigar is medium bodied. The finish is dark chocolate and good lingering black pepper. I rated the first third 93.

As I moved through the second third (1 hour 5 minutes) The cigar kept going in the same direction. There is now a lot of dark chocolate, decreased chewy nutmeg, and hints of citrus and brown sugar. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish is unchanged. I rated the second third 90.

The cigar lasted 1 hour 32 minutes. In the final third I had hints of brown sugar and a ton of dark chocolate. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish is unchanged. The cigar is almost totally dark. The citrus is gone. The nutmeg is gone. Plenty of dark chocolate. I rated the final third 88. I expected much more from this cigar.

Overall Score: 90.33
