Villiger Cigars’ is releasing a U.S. version of its Villiger de Nicaragua Edición Limitada 2022 blend for the U.S. market.

The Villiger de Nicaragua Edición Limitada 2022 first was seen at Intertabac 2022. It was released in the form of a 6 x 52 Toro for the non-U.S. market. Now the blend will be offered to the U.S. market in the form of a 6 x 52 box-pressed Torpedo.

Villiger de Nicaragua features an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper over a Mexican binder and filler tobaccos from Nicaragua and Pennsylvania. The cigar gets its name from the Villiger de Nicaragua factory, the facility Villiger Cigar has recently opened in Estelí, Nicaragua.

The box-pressed Torpedo cigars are presented in 20-count boxes. Pricing is set at $15.00 per cigar. A total production of 500 boxes (10,000 cigars) of the box-pressed Torpedo has been allocated.

The cigar is nicely made and has a nice feel in the hand.

The test draw after cutting the cap was good. The initial flavors at light up were strawberry, brown sugar, honey, and leather. There was black pepper rated at 7 1/2. Nice start. A little interesting with those strawberry notes.

At the first third (25 minutes) the notes are the same but the strawberry has some richness. The leather is secondary. The cigar is medium bodied. The finish is predominantly leather with a hint of brown sugar. I rated the first third 95.

Moving through the second third (55 minutes) the cigar developed some earthiness and the leather was elevated. The nice, sweet strawberry with some richness and brown sugar notes are somewhat reduced. The cigar is now medium to full bodied. The finish has a touch of strawberry and leather with very good lingering black pepper. I rated the second third 93.

The cigar lasted 1 hour 21 minutes. The cigar improved a little. The sweet notes came out a little more and the earthiness and leather decreased. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish is unchanged. The cigar didn't quite get back to the way it was in the first third but it improved. I rated the final third 94. Definitely one to give a try. They should be available any day now.

Overall Score: 94
