Room101 is celebrating a major anniversary with a new limited edition cigar named the Room101 15th Anniversary, a 6 x 52 toro viola made entirely of Nicaraguan tobacco. Each cigar has an MSRP of $14.99—or $299.80 for a 20-count box—and production is limited to 40,000 cigars.
The cigars are being made by AJ Fernandez, which also produced Room101’s 10th, 12th, 13th and 14th Anniversary releases.
“I am both honored and humbled by your belief in and support of our brand,” said Matt Booth, founder of Room101, in a press release. “You have made this milestone possible for Room101. We have traversed several lifetimes, surfing the highs and lows of this journey together and I wouldn’t change a thing.”
While this might be the sixth year of these releases, it’s at least the seventh cigar. That is because, in 2022, Room101 released not only the 13th Anniversary but also a second size of the 12th Anniversary.
The cigar is dark and well made. It has a nice feel in the hand.
The test draw after cutting the cap was good. The initial flavors at light up were tangy citrus, citrus peel, brown sugar, and black coffee. There was a ton of black pepper rated at 8 1/2 to 9. If you retro hale you will really get it. Very nice start.
At the first third (19 minutes) the notes are just like they started. The black pepper has toned down to around 8. There is light toffee in the mix which makes it a little sweeter. The cigar is full bodied already. The finish is black coffee with hints of citrus peel and brown sugar with very good lingering black pepper. The cigar is very good. I rated the first third 95.
As I moved through the second third (43 minutes) nothing much has changed. The only change is the finish has more of the citrus peel and brown sugar with light black coffee and very good lingering black pepper. The cigar is still full bodied. The notes work very well. I held the score of 95.
The cigar lasted 1 hour 13 minutes. In the final third the only change of note was the black coffee rose. There was enough extra black coffee to change the score to 94. Still a very good cigar. It's still full bodied and the finish is unchanged. This is an impressive cigar and the best Room101 Anniversary cigar I've had. Well worth trying.
