West Tampa Tobacco Company Red Toro (6 x 52) (Pre-Release review)

Video review HERE.

(Description provided by West Tampa Tobacco Company)

One of the hottest brands in the industry just got hotter! Introducing, West Tampa Tobacco Company Red!

Like its predecessors, White & Black, Red delivers a flavor bomb with enhanced body that is a perfect addition to the West Tampa line-up. From mild to full bodied, creamy to spicey, West Tampa now offers something for everyone.

Rick Rodriguez, master blender and co-owner, is especially excited about this release. “West Tampa Red gave me the opportunity to sit down with the factory and really focus on creating a blend that I enjoy.” “Normally when I blend cigars, I don’t blend for what I like, I blend cigars for what my fans enjoy. Red will be a reflection of what I believe is the next piece to lay in the West Tampa puzzle, a full-bodied cigar that delivers the full flavor consumers have come to enjoy from West Tampa.”

Rick chose to work once again with the Mexican San Andreas wrapper that he used for his inaugural Attic Series release. The wrapper is where the similarities end. Changes he has made in the all-Nicaraguan binder and filler will deliver an unforgettable smoke.

West Tampa Tobacco Company Red will be available in three sizes, 20 cigars/box and will be line priced with Black & White:

Robusto (5X50)- $8.99 SRP(USD)

Toro (6X52)- $9.99 SRP(USD) REVIEWED TODAY

Gigante (6X60)- $10.99 SRP(USD

Shipments to retailers will begin in May.

The cigar is dark and well made. It has a nice feel in the hand.

The test draw after cutting the cap was good. The initial flavors at light up were a citrus/apple, brown sugar, earthiness, citrus peel, and black coffee. There was black pepper rated at 7 1/2. Not a bad start.

At the first third (32 minutes) I had pretty much the same notes; apple, citrus peel, some citrus, brown sugar, earthiness, and black coffee. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish has a touch of the apple note and black coffee with good lingering black pepper. The notes are mixing pretty well. I rated the first third 93.

Moving through the second third (59 minutes) the earthiness has decreased. There is more of an espresso note now. The cigar is full bodied. The finish is unchanged with very good lingering black pepper. The sweet/tart notes work well with the espresso. I rated the second third 94.

The cigar lasted 1 hour 26 minutes. The brown sugar in the final third is nice. There are still rather light notes of citrus, apple, and citrus peel. There are plenty of espresso notes. The earthiness is still quite reduced. The cigar is full bodied. The finish now is more brown sugar and espresso with very good lingering black pepper. The cigar is slightly different from what it was in the second third but not enough to change the score of 94. This is another good cigar from West Tampa Tobacco Company. Look for them in May.

Overall Score: 93.67
