United Cigars Natural Robusto (5 x 54)

Video review HERE.

(Description provided by United Cigars)

United Cigars has enhanced their flagship United Cigars Line and will now be rolled in the traditional round shape. United Cigars is not just the name of the company, or their flagship brand, it is an American Icon. The company’s rich origins stretch back over a century, delivering unique experiences to cigar enthusiasts since 1901. Since reigniting United Cigars in 2010, it has been their mission to continue improving on their products and services to their retail partners and consumers.

“This was a spiritual re-discovery of how beautiful Dominican tobacco can be,” said Oliver Nivaud, United Cigars Director of Operations. “Every bale we opened offered a new life to the blend.”

The enhanced blend uses Dominican Broadleaf and tobaccos from the Quisqueya region of the Dominican Republic. Previously featured in a soft box press format, both the United Natural and Maduro blends will now be in the round format with the enriched blend moving forward. The upgraded blend offers notes of almonds, warm dough, bakers spice and a light sweetness on the cold draw. Both blends smoke with a medium-bodied profile and show notes of espresso, leather and a sweet peppery spice.

The cigar is nicely made and has an average feel in the hand.

The test draw after cutting the cap was good. The initial flavors at light up were a pronounced orange citrus with some citrus peel, brown sugar, and earthy black coffee. There was black pepper rated at 7 to 7 1/2. Nice start.

At the first third (30 minutes) not a lot had changed. There are flashes of toffee to go along with the citrus, citrus peel, and brown sugar. The earthy black coffee has risen. Not to a problem point but it's definitely noticeable. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish is black coffee with very good lingering black pepper. I rated the first third 92.

Moving through the second third (1 hour 4 minutes) the earthiness continues to rise and it's putting a damper on the sweeter notes. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish is unchanged. The lingering black pepper is very nice. The cigar lost a little with the elevated earthiness. I rated the second third 90.

The cigar lasted an impressive 1 hour 26 minutes. The earthy black coffee held it's ground and didn't continue to rise. By and large the cigar was about like it was in the second third other that it's very close to full bodied. The finish is unchanged. The black pepper is probably around 8 on the front end and it's very nice on the finish. I held the score of 90 for the final third.

Overall Score: 90.67
