Aladino Limited Edition (6 x 52 Toro)

Video review HERE.

(Description taken from Cigar-coop.com website)

When it comes to the JRE Tobacco Co portfolio, the focus has mostly been on regular production releases. While Aladino Corojo Reserva No. 4 is a periodic limited-production cigar, there hasn’t been a “one and done” JRE release. That changed at the 2023 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show, where JRE Tobacco Co. unveiled what it says is its one-and-done limited edition – the Aladino Limited Edition.

This project started several years ago when company patriarch Julio R Eiroa celebrated his 80th birthday and the company was looking to release a cigar around that. Now 85 years young, there still hasn’t been a commemorative milestone cigar, but the Aladino Limited Edition is an offshoot of that project. This cigar features a Cameroon wrapper that was grown on the JRE Tobacco farm. The remainder of the blend is Honduran tobaccos that also come from the farm. The Aladino Limited Edition will come in one size – a 6 x 52 Toro. It will come in 20-count boxes with a total production limited to 600 boxes.

Pricing is set at $16.00 per cigar.

The cigar is a medium brown in color and has an average feel in the hand.

The test draw after cutting the cap was good with a touch of firmness. The initial flavors at light up were citrus peel, apricot, brown sugar, light cinnamon, and light leather. There was black pepper rated at 7. Pretty good start.

At the first third (29 minutes) I had a little citrus peel, very sweet apricot, brown sugar, cinnamon, walnut, and light leather. The finish was walnut, apricot, and light leather with good lingering black pepper. The cigar is medium bodied. The cigar is nice at this point. I rated the first third 93.

Moving through the second third (56 minutes) there was an increase in citrus peel. The apricot decreased. There is now earthiness in the cigar and there's a little more leather. The walnut notes are still there. I still had a little brown sugar and cinnamon. The cigar is still medium bodied. The finish is unchanged. The increase in citrus peel and earthiness I lowered the score to 91.

The cigar lasted 1 hour 17 minutes. The earthiness continued to increase. The citrus peel dropped back and the apricot came out a little more. There were some brown sugar notes, light leather, and walnut. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish is unchanged except there is more lingering black pepper. The black pepper on the front end ticked up a little also. The earthiness doesn't sit well in this cigar. I began to lose interest. I rated the final third 88. I had high expectations for this cigar but they fell short. I wanted it to be as good as the Aladino Classic Elegante but sadly it was not.

Overall Score: 90.67
