My Father Cigars has announced a new limited edition release off its Jaime Garcia blend, known as the Jaime Garcia Reserva Especial Sucesor 2024 Edition.
The Sucesor 2024 Edition is being released in two box-pressed sizes with one size per blend. The first is a 6 x 56 Toro that is highlighted by a Sumatra wrapper. The second is a 6 1/8 x 52 Torpedo that uses a Habano Rosado wrapper. (REVIEWED TODAY) Production comes from the My Father Cigar Cigar S.A. in EstelĂ, Nicaragua.
Both Sucesor releases are limited to 5,000 14-count boxes per size. My Father Cigars has informed retailers that pricing of the Jaime Garcia Reserva Especial Sucesor is $14.00 boxes.
The cigar is nicely made and has a average to nice feel in the hand.
The test draw after cutting the cap was good. The initial flavors at light up were an orange/lemon note, brown sugar, leather, and a musky note. There was black pepper rated at 7 1/2. Not the best start and not the worst either.
At the first third (31 minutes) the citrus notes are greatly decreased. It's almost like a citrus peel. The primary sweet notes is brown sugar. There's a lot of earthiness and the leather is quite noticeable. The muskiness is still intertwined. The cigar is medium bodied, leaning toward medium to full. The finish is leather with very good lingering black pepper. There is just enough sweetness to make the cigar somewhat interesting. I rated the first third 91.
As I moved through the second third (1 hour 9 minutes) the cigar is losing me. The citrus is pretty much gone. There's some brown sugar, quite a bit if earthiness and leather, and there's now black coffee. The black pepper is up around 8. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish is leather with very good lingering black pepper. At least the muskiness is gone at this point. I rated the second third 88.
The cigar lasted 1 hour 42 minutes. It kept going in the same direction. Now there is very little sweetness, a lot of leather and earthiness, and black coffee. The cigar is full bodied. The finish is unchanged. I rated the final third 85. The cigar lost almost everything for me. I expected a lot more from this cigar. Hopefully the Sumatra wrapper will be better. I'll review it next weekend. If you're a fan of Jaime Garcia cigars or just want to try this cigar Smallbatchcigar.com has them in 4 packs for $56. Use code tinytim for 10% off and free shipping.
