LH Cigars has started shipping its Limited Aniversario, a 5 7/8 x 52 parejo created to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the company’s cigars being sold in the American market. The cigars are being produced at the Tabacos de Costa Rica factory and are blended with an Ecuadorian habano wrapper covering a binder and filler made up of undisclosed tobacco.
Each cigar has an MSRP of $20 and they are packaged in 10-count boxes. While it is a limited release, LH Cigars declined to disclose production numbers.
Nicholas Syris, founder of LH Cigars, says he created the cigar as an homage to the Cohiba Siglo VI, a Cuban cigar that has the same dimensions.
“The Cohiba Siglo VI has always been a personal favorite for its elegance and complexity,” said Syris in a press release when the cigar was announced. “The LH Limited Aniversario is my tribute to that legendary cigar, designed to capture its spirit while introducing a unique profile that sets it apart.”
The cigar is nicely made and has an average feel in the hand.
The test draw after cutting the cap was good with a touch of firmness. The initial flavors at light up were peach, lemon, brown sugar, and earthy black coffee. There was black pepper rated at 7 1/2 to 8.
At the first third (24 minutes) the cigar is burning fairly evenly and the ash is still intact. The notes are the same. The cigar is medium bodied. The finish is earthy black coffee with good lingering black pepper. The sweet notes are nice and there is quite a bit of earthy black coffee. The sweet notes could be a little more pronounced. I rated the first third 91.
As I moved through the second third (45 minutes) the sweet notes, which are primarily peach at this point, have elevated. There are minor lemon notes but mainly peach. There's still plenty of earthy black coffee but the sweet notes noticeably rose. The cigar is medium bodied. The finish is unchanged. I rated the second third 92.
The cigar lasted 1 hour 13 minutes. There was a huge change in the final third. The black coffee and earthiness rose considerably. The sweet notes dropped a lot. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish is unchanged. There is a big difference in the second and final third. I rated the final third 87. The first two thirds are not back but the final third loses a lot.
