Partagas Y Nada Más Santiago Robusto (5 x 50)

Video review HERE.

(Description provided by General Cigar)

Throughout its 180 years, Partagas has never been afraid to take a bold step. That tradition continues to this day with the introduction of Partagas Y Nada Más Santiago.

Inspired by its hometown in the Dominican Republic, Y Nada Más Santiago pays homage to the roots of the brand  – but also its heritage of innovation.  Y Nada Mas is a cigar with one foot planted firmly in tradition and one foot stepping boldly into the future.

A medium-bodied cigar blended for the modern palate, Y Nada Más Santiago is crafted at the Tabacalera William Ventura factory. Its tobacco blend features a Habano 2000 wrapper, a Sumatra binder, and Piloto, Corojo, Ecuadoran and Broadleaf filler tobacco, and boasts sweet and earthy notes that pair well with aged rum, cognac, and coffee.

“Partagas Y Nada Más Santiago is the best of both worlds. It's that timeless quality you expect in a Partagas cigar with a blend that appeals to the modern cigar smoker,” says John Hakim, brand manager for Partagas. “This is a cigar that will remind true cigar lovers that there is Partagas, and nothing else.”

This full-time blend is available in the following frontmarks: Robusto (5 X 50), Toro (6 X 52), and Gordo (6 X 60).

The cigar is nicely made and has a colorful band. It has an average feel in the hand.

The test draw after cutting the cap was good with a touch of firmness. The initial flavors at light up were a tart apple, brown sugar, and a lot of black coffee. There was black pepper rated at 7 1/2 to 8. Pretty nice start.

At the first third (20 minutes) the notes were about the same but now there is some nougat which is not overly sweet, and roasted pecans which make the cigar a little more interesting. The finish is black coffee with very good lingering black pepper. The cigar is medium bodied but may move up. The cigar is burning evenly. I rated the first third 93.

As I moved through the second third (44 minutes) the nougat got a little sweeter with some richness. The notes are working well together. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish is earthy black coffee with very good lingering black pepper. So the notes are apple, brown sugar, nougat, light pecan, and earthy black coffee. I rated the second third 94.

The cigar lasted 1 hour 5 minutes. The richness in the nougat did not last through the final third. There is a lot of brown sugar, however. The apple notes are faint at this point. There are still plenty of black coffee notes with earthiness. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish is unchanged. I rated the final third 93. This is a pretty good cigar that should be smoked slowly and the smoke held and let out slowly.

My initial calculation was wrong. The video score is incorrect and it says such in the description. The correct score is 93.33.
