Knuckle Sandwich Puro Nicaragua Gordo (6 x 60) – $14.99 (Box of 20, $299.80)
It is also produced at the San Lotano factory.
The cigar is well made and box pressed. It has a nice feel in the hand.
The test draw after cutting the cap was very good. Almost effortless. The initial flavors at light up were citrus, cedar, citrus peel, apple, brown sugar, tanned leather, and black coffee. There was black coffee rated at 8. Very good start.
At the first third (25 minutes) the ash was still intact. It's a very light gray and white. The sweet notes have moved up a little. There is some earthiness now along with the leather and black coffee but they are lighter than the sweet notes. The cigar is medium bodied. The finish is apple with very good lingering black pepper. I like the notes in this cigar. I rated the first third 95.
As I moved through the second third (50 minutes) there was a little toffee moving in with the sweet notes. Other than that and the fact that the cigar is now medium to full bodied nothing has changed. The lower level notes are the same and may have ticked up just a little but not enough to change the score of 95. So far, this is a very good cigar.
The cigar lasted 1 hour 20 minutes. The cigar got a little earthier and the sweetness slightly dipped. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish is citrus with a little toffee and very good lingering black pepper. I score the final third 94. This is a very good cigar. It's something I could smoke very often.
