The company’s latest release is the Lure Fish Stix, a 4 1/4 x 46 box-pressed Rothschild vitola made entirely of Nicaraguan tobacco. That includes a habano 2000 wrapper over a ligero binder from Estelí and fillers from Estelí, Jalapa and Ometepe. It is produced at Tabacalera Pages de Nicaragua S.A. in Nicaragua.
Each cigar has an MSRP of $8 and it will be sold in resealable bags of five.
“The packs are designed for convenience and portability,” said Lou Cross III, the company’s founder, in a press release. “Each 5-pack of cigars is resealable and is the perfect size to toss in your tackle box, center console, or golf bag.”
The cigar is soft box pressed and has a light feel in the hand.
The test draw after cutting the cap was good. The initial flavors at light up were citrus, cedar, brown sugar, and leathery black coffee. There was black pepper rated at 7 1/2 to 8. Pretty good start.
At the first third (15 minutes) I had the same basic notes along with some light toffee. The earthy black coffee has some leathery aspects. The black pepper is still very good. The cigar is medium bodied. The finish is black coffee with very good lingering black pepper. I rated the first third 94.
Moving through the second third (28 minutes) the earthiness has increased. There is a nice amount of brown sugar and toffee. I didn't get much in the way of citrus and very light cedar. The cigar is medium bodied. The finish is toffee with black coffee and very good lingering black pepper. The cigar is still tasty but it's gotten a little earthy. I rated the second third 93.
The cigar lasted 41 minutes. A little of the citrus notes came back with the cedar. There was also the brown sugar and light toffee. And a lot of earthy black coffee with leather aspects. The black pepper is still very good. The cigar is medium bodied. The finish is toffee with black coffee and very good lingering black pepper. The cigar improved back to a 94. This is a good, short, quick smoke.
