Punch Egg Roll XL (6 x 60)

Video review HERE.

(Description provided by Punch Cigars)

Punch Cigars is putting a new twist on an old favorite to celebrate the Chinese New Year. The limited-edition cigar, Egg Roll XL, features the same blend as the original Punch Egg Roll, which was released in 2019. However, as its name implies, Egg Roll XL is a 6 X 60 Gigante and is bigger than the first Egg Roll.

Egg Roll XL features a USA Broadleaf wrapper, an Ecuadorian Sumatra binder, and Colombian, Dominican, Mexican, and USA filler tobaccos. Like its predecessor, Egg Roll XL has a shaggy foot.

It is a limited-edition cigar. Punch has previously released other limited-edition cigars themed after Chinese-American cuisine, including Chop Suey, King Pow!, and Spring Roll.

Egg Roll XL offers a rich and savory smoking experience punctuated by notes of pepper, blackberry, and earthy spiciness. It is a medium-bodied cigar.

Punch’s brand manager, Scott Abney, said, “Fans haven’t been shy about telling us how much they loved the first Punch Egg Roll. So it only made sense to bring it back in a bigger size! Egg Roll XL has everything you remember and enjoyed about the original, and then some.”

Punch Egg Roll XL was produced at the HATSA Factory in Honduras. It features branding that nods to the Year of the Horse and comes in a Chinese takeout-style box. Each box contains 20 cigars. SRP per cigar is $7.99. It will begin shipping in February 2026.

The cigar is dark and has a nice feel in the hand.

The test draw after cutting the cap was good with a touch of firmness. The initial flavors at light up of the unfinished foot were something like a light peach and leather with black pepper rated at 7 to 7 1/2, When the burn reached the wrapper (about 7 1/2 minutes in) the added notes were a think molasses-type note and black coffee. The molasses notes are somewhat like those but not as sweet but it's that type of consistency. The peach-type note is still there and now I have a little brown sugar with it. There's also a think nutmeg type note.

At the first third (32 minutes) the peach notes are very light. There's a lot of chunky nutmeg, a little brown sugar, a lot of black coffee, earthiness, leather, and a touch of bitterness. The cigar is heavy on dark notes. The cigar is medium bodied, leaning toward medium to full. The finish is a leathery nutmeg type note with good lingering black pepper. I rated the first third 88.

As I moved through the second third (1 hour 7 minutes) I had very heavy coffee, leather, earthiness, and bakers chocolate. All flavors with no sweetness. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish is black coffee, bakers chocolate, and very good lingering black pepper. Those notes are fine. They're not nasty but they have no sweetness. They need a lot of sweetness to make a cigar tasty. I rated the second third 82.

The cigar lasted 1 hour 37 minutes. If you hold the smoke and let it out slowly you will get a little brown sugar. Not a lot but some. The cigar is full bodied. The finish is black coffee with minor amounts of brown sugar and very good lingering black pepper. The cigar made a small improvement. I rated the final third 84.

Overall Score: 84.67
