E. P. Carrillo New Wave Connecticut Divino

These cigars are a brand new edition from E. P. Carrillo and will be available in late March or early April, 2011. Ernesto masterfully created a blend of Nicaraguan-Dominican leaves, while the creamy Connecticut wrapper comes from Ecuador. Ernesto, III (Ernie) described this cigar to me as "not your typical Connecticut cigar".

Today I am reviewing the:

E. P. Carrillo New Wave Connecticut Divino (6 x 52)

Video review.

The wrapper is obviously lighter than the Elenco Series. The cigar started with slightly sweet grapefruit notes, some vanilla notes and some almond notes with good black pepper. The finish was long with vanilla notes and lingering pepper.

At the midpoint the cigar continued to burn evenly. The draw was just shy of effortless. At this point the cigar has developed more richness. The grapefruit citrus is quite sweet. The vanilla gives the cigar a richness while the almonds remain behind the vanilla adding some flavor. The pepper is improving. The cigar is moving toward medium. This would make a good, flavorful morning cigar.

In the final stages the cigar continued with the rich flavors it had at the midpoint. Very rich sweet grapefruit and vanilla notes. The pepper is long and lingering. The finish has developed some citrus notes along with the vanilla and the finish is very rich. The pepper continues to linger nicely.

The New Wave Connecticut is a good mild to medium cigar which I enjoyed very much. These cigars will be available in early April, 2011.

Score: 92
