Vegas de Santiago Heritage Torpedo (6 x 52)

This is another of the Vegas de Santiago premium blends. This cigar is extremely well made and simply beautiful to look at. In fact, all the Vegas de Santiago cigars I've ever had are exquisitely made. Simply perfect. The cigar is a very dark brown.

Wrapper: Ecuadorian maduro
Binder: Ecuadorian
Filler: Nicaraguan and Costa Rica

Video review HERE.

While the cigar is beautiful to look at the purpose of making a great looking cigar is to see how it tastes. So, that's what I did. First, the test draw was slightly firm. The cigar is dense.

The initial flavors were  dark chocolate, coffee, cedar, and a nice amount of pepper. The finish at this point is one raw almond quickly transforming into sweet cream. I also noticed a slight hint of citrus on the front end. It's early so I let the cigar sit for a minute to see how the flavors developed.

About 1/2 inch in the cigar changed a bit. The flavors now initially are flavors of cherry which quickly changes to a sweet, rich cedar. Coffee and dark chocolate back up these flavors. The pepper is good. I'd say it's about 5 out of 10 in intensity. The finish is one of a toasted sweet cream. You might call it a toasted french vanilla if you like. The burn is pretty even. The cigar feels medium bodied and shows signs of going medium to full bodied eventually.

Just past the midpoint the cherry and cedar notes are now evenly distributed. You detect them both in even amounts. Some leather notes were detected just after the cherry/cedar notes. The coffee and dark chocolate remain the same along with the pepper. On the finish the cedar notes have now combined with the toasted cream. There is still some lingering pepper although not a huge amount.

At the end of the cigar it ended up medium to full bodied. I found the cigar enjoyable. The cherry and cedar combination was nice. The finish remained consistent. The purpose of this review was to get the word out about these premium blends of Vegas de Santiago. I urge you to visit their website to check out the other sizes available in this cigar as well as the other blends they offer. I appreciate them sending these cigars for me to try. Since you now know about them check them out!
