Warped Cigars El Oso 10th Anniversary-Grand Papa (6 x 50)

Video review HERE.

(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)

It’s been 10 years since Warped Cigars launched its El Oso line, and in mid-February the company began  sending out a new limited edition to celebrate that anniversary.

The El Oso 10th Anniversary is a 6 x 50 toro that the company is calling the Grand Papa, and it comes with a different blend than the original El Oso. This new cigar uses an Ecuadorian habano oscuro wrapper, while the binder comes from Nicaragua instead of the Ecuadorian leaf found on the original blend. Underneath those leaves are a mix of Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers. The cigars are made at El Titan de Bronze in Miami and began shipping to retailers this past Monday.

Production is being limited to 1,500 boxes of 10 cigars, which come with an MSRP of $25 per cigar and $250 per box. The cigars were reportedly made by just one person at the factory, who has a daily production of about 100 cigars, meaning it took approximately 150 days, or six months, to produce the release.

The cigar is dark and has a nice, dense feel in the hand.

The initial flavors at light up were a nice citrus, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Then you get a pocket of massive black pepper followed by leather. It's almost like the black pepper is time released right after the sweet notes. Then comes the leather. The black pepper was rated at 8, so it's quite nice. Nice start.

At the first third (38 minutes) the citrus notes dipped a little because the leather is up. There's earthiness and black coffee also. The cigar is medium to full bodied leaning toward full bodied already. The finish is leather with very good lingering black pepper. The sweet notes that started out very pronounced are a little subdued. I rated the first third 94.

Moving through the second third (1 hour 9 minutes) nothing has changed other than the cigar is now full bodied. The black pepper is still very good and rated at 8. The finish is unchanged. I held the score of 94.

The cigar lasted 1 hour 31 minutes. Again, nothing much has changed. The cigar is very full bodied. The finish is unchanged. This is a good cigar from Warped. Very full bodied with nice sweet notes and plenty of lower level notes. Pretty much what you get at the first third is what you'll have throughout. I held the score of 94. Smallbatchcigar.com has these in 3 packs for $75 but use code tinytim for 10% off and free shipping.

Overall Score: 94
