Drew Estate Nirvana Robusto (5 x 52)

Video review HERE.

Drew Estate Nirvana came out last year so they're fairly new. They feature a Cameroon wrapper which got my attention.

Wrapper: Cameroon
Binder: Mexican San Andrés Negra
Filler: Nicaragua (Estelí & Jalapa)

The are available in these sizes:
Nirvana Silencio (4 x 44) — $9.15 (Boxes of 20, $183.00)
Nirvana Corona Gorda (6 x 46) — $9.65 (Boxes of 20, $193.00)
Nirvana Robusto (5 x 52) — $10.35 (Boxes of 20, $207.00) REVIEWED TODAY
Nirvana Toro (6 x 52) — $10.85 (Boxes of 20, $217.00)
Nirvana Torpedo (6 x 54) — $10.85 (Boxes of 20, $217.00)

The cigar is well made with only a blemish or two. The lower band at the foot has "Royal Gold" embossed in the gold foil band.

The foot/density of the cigar:

The test draw after cutting the cap was very good. The initial flavors were a sweet boysenberry, dry wood, and straight black coffee. There was white pepper rated at a 7.

About 1/2 inch in there are now caramel notes mixed in with the boysenberry. The other notes are about the same. The finish is a cream with some raw almond notes. There is also some lingering white pepper.

1 1/2 inches in the caramel notes are moving forward to be the lead player. The boysenberry notes are secondary. The caramel notes also have some buttery flavors and richness. The caramel notes have filtered over to the finish also. The caramel on the finish is somewhat subtle but very nice. The cigar is medium bodied leaning toward medium to full.

About 2 inches remaining the notes are about the same but I've lost some of the buttery notes and richness in the caramel giving way to the dry wood and coffee notes again, which were overshadowed in previous segments. The cigar is very close to medium to full bodied. The finish is unchanged.

The cigar never got back the richness. The boysenberry notes moved up a little. The finish is unchanged. The cigar ended at medium to full bodied. If the cigar stayed the course with the richness and buttery notes I would have given this cigar a 93. As it stands it's still a very good cigar that I would smoke again. Nirvana impressed me. Try them and let me know what you think.

Score: 92
