Killer Bee Lonsdale by Blk Wks (6 1/2 x 42)

Video review HERE.

(Description taken from Tobaccobusiness.com website)
In 2017 Black Works Studio (BLK WKS) introduced two new event-exclusive cigars: Green Hornet “Kato” and Killer Bee Lonsdale. Both of these exclusive cigars are handcrafted in Esteli, Nicaragua at Fabrica Oveja Negra and are available at retailer events. (But recently they became available year round.)

“We are very excited to launch these new additions to the Killer Bee and Green Hornet lines,” said James Brown, creator of BLK WKS and owner of Fabrica Oveja Negra. “These cigars will be released as event only in very limited quantities. Both of these cigars are unique versions of the original blends and highlight the creativity of our factory. I wanted something special for our retailers who support us with events and these two cigars are exactly that.

Killer Bee Lonsdale details:
Wrapper: Ecuador Maduro with a Connecticut linear
Binder: Nicaraguan Habano
Filler: Nicaraguan
Vitola: Lonsdale (6 1/2 x 42)

The cigar is flawlessly made and very dark. There are a lot of Connecticut linear appointments at the cap.

This cigar, like the standard Killer Bee, has a closed foot.

The test draw after cutting the cap was good considering the cigar has a closed foot. The initial flavors at light up were very nice; a tangy orange citrus, raisin sweetness, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, sweet dark chocolate, and a full bodied dark roasted black coffee. There was a nice amount of black pepper rated at an 8. There are a lot of dark notes with ample sweetness. This is a very good start.

At the first third (28 minutes) the flavor notes are the same but the raisin notes are slightly decreased. The nutmeg really accentuates the flavors. At times I got a smooth sweetness of caramel. The cigar is nice and sweet. The finish is chocolate, nutmeg, and brown sugar with a very nice amount of lingering black pepper. The black pepper is still very good but not quite an 8...but it's up there. The cigar is medium to full bodied. For a small ring cigar the burn time is quite impressive. I rated the first third at 94.

As I moved into the second third (1 hour 6 minutes) the cigar just got better and better. The caramel notes are definitely there and they mix so well with the nutmeg giving a fantastic flavor. The citrus is moving toward more of a cedar flavor. The raisin notes are back and add more sweetness along with the brown sugar and cinnamon. The sweet dark chocolate and black coffee give the cigar a dark feel but there is ample sweetness to equal them out. The cigar is quite balanced. You get plenty of all the notes. The finish is very pleasing and unchanged. There is a lot of lingering black pepper. I rated the second third at 95.

The cigar lasted 1 hour 36 minutes. A very impressive burn time for a lonsdale. In the final third almost nothing changed. The only change is the lead flavor is now a sweet cedar mainly with subtle citrus notes. That's it. Nothing else changed. It remained very dark and very sweet. The finish is unchanged. The cigar is definitely full bodied. This is an impressive maduro cigar. I rated the final third at 95.

Overall Score: 94.67
