Moya Ruiz Summer Sausage Hot (6 x 52)

Video review HERE.

(Description taken from Cigar-Coop.com website)
This summer MoyaRuiz released a limited edition three blend series known as Summer Sausage. The cigars will feature packaging reminiscent of sausage packaged at a supermarket meat counter. The Summer Sausage will be sold exclusively through Atlantic Cigar.

The Summer Sausage Series consists of Breakfast Sausage (featuring a Connecticut Shade wrapper), Summer Sausage Hot (featuring a Habano wrapper), and Summer Sausage Sweet (featuring a Maduro wrapper). All of the cigars feature Nicaraguan binder and fillers and come in one size – a 6 x 52 Toro. There are ten cigars per package and pricing is set at $59.99. Production is handled by MoyaRuiz’s long-time manufacturing partner, La Zona.

The sausage “tray” for each blend will have a color matching the blend. The sausage tray is encased in cellophane complete with a “meat label” describing the cigar.

“We had a lot of fun turning the La Zona factory temporarily into a Carniceria to bring this release to Atlantic Cigar, and its customers, “says MoyaRuiz cigars in a press release.

The cigar is unbanded and has a nice feel in the hand.

The test draw after cutting the cap was very good. The initial flavors at light up were a cedar/citrus, brown sugar, cinnamon, caramel, nutmeg, and black coffee. The caramel and nutmeg come together to make a thick paste that is very nice. There was nice black pepper rated at 7 1/2. Nice start.

At the first third (41 minutes) the flavors are about like I described initially. The cedar is a little heavier than the citrus on the lead flavor. The caramel/nutmeg paste has a little more cinnamon now which makes it very nice. The pepper is still very good. The finish is caramel and nutmeg with nice lingering black pepper. The cigar is a high grade medium bodied. I rated the first third at 92.

As I moved through the second third (1 hour 9 minutes) the cigar is increasing in depth. The black coffee notes have risen to give the cigar needed darker notes. The front end flavor is still mainly cedar with a touch of citrus. The cinnamon is very good in this cigar. The pasty nutmeg has toned down but the caramel still gives it very nice sweetness. The pepper is still very good and may have ticked up but definitely has not decreased and there is a lot on the finish, which is unchanged. The cigar improved a little. I raised the score to 93 for the second third.

The cigar lasted 1 hour 34 minutes. You now have cedar, brown sugar, cinnamon, caramel, light nutmeg, and a black coffee base. The nutmeg really decreased in the final third. The pepper was still very good and was throughout the cigar. The finish was unchanged. The cigar ended at medium to full bodied. This has been a very good cigar and I would urge you to get a tray for yourself. Espinosa Cigars did a good job on this cigar. I rated the final third at 92.

Overall Score: 92.33
