Moya Ruiz Summer Sausage Sweet (6 x 52)

Video Review HERE.

(Description taken from Cigar-Coop.com website)
This summer MoyaRuiz released a limited edition three blend series known as Summer Sausage. The cigars will feature packaging reminiscent of sausage packaged at a supermarket meat counter. The Summer Sausage will be sold exclusively through Atlantic Cigar.

(Description taken from Cigar-Coop.com website)
The Summer Sausage Series consists of Breakfast Sausage (featuring a Connecticut Shade wrapper), Summer Sausage Hot (featuring a Habano wrapper), and Summer Sausage Sweet (featuring a Maduro wrapper). All of the cigars feature Nicaraguan binder and fillers and come in one size – a 6 x 52 Toro. There are ten cigars per package and pricing is set at $59.99. Production is handled by MoyaRuiz’s long-time manufacturing partner, La Zona.

The sausage “tray” for each blend will have a color matching the blend. The sausage tray is encased in cellophane complete with a “meat label” describing the cigar.

“We had a lot of fun turning the La Zona factory temporarily into a Carniceria to bring this release to Atlantic Cigar, and its customers, “says MoyaRuiz cigars in a press release.

The cigar is not very dark for a maduro. It has a nice feel in the hand.

The test draw after cutting the cap was very good. The initial flavors at light up were a ceder/citrus but the main flavor is a sweet chocolate, although it's not overly sweet. There were also brown sugar, cinnamon and quite a bit of nutmeg notes. There was a nice black coffee base. There was black pepper rated at 7 to 7 1/2. Nice start.

At the first third (34 minutes) the flavors are about like I initially described The funny thing about this cigar is it's called "sweet" but it's not overly sweet. It has nice sweetness but with a name like "sweet" you'd expect it to be very sweet. That being said there are now toasted caramel notes. The pepper remains very good and the lingering black pepper is also very good. The lead flavor is more of a cedar now but the chocolate still outweighs the cedar. The finish is chocolate and nutmeg with nice lingering black pepper. The cigar is a high end medium bodied. I am enjoying this cigar. I rated the first third at 93.

At the second third (1 hour 6 minutes) the cigar is continuing in the same lane as before. This is a dark noted cigar that has adequate sweetness. The cigar is now medium to full bodied. The finish is unchanged. The cigar has not changed much. I maintained the previous score of 93 for the second third.

The cigar lasted 1 hour 34 minutes. The same burn time as the habano version. So, the ending flavors were chocolate, cedar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and black coffee. I seemed to have lost the caramel notes. The cigar reached full bodied status. The finish is unchanged. This has been a good maduro that is somewhat basic but better than a basic maduro. I held the score of 93 for the final third. At this price point it's a no brainer. Give these a try. I think you'll like them.

Overall Score: 93
